Cigarette girl (person) → Cigarette girl – Unnecessary disambiguation. Primary redirect has pointed here since 2013. -- Netoholic @ 20:02, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 00:35, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Netoholic and EdJohnston:
- We already have Cigarette Girl, a film released in 2009. In my view, we shouldn't have two titles so nearly alike without a disambiguator. Do you want the film to be moved to Cigarette Girl (film)? EdJohnston (talk) 21:43, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- No. SMALLDETAILS and hatnotes can cover it. The has already been primary redirecting for so long. Netoholic @ 00:08, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: I would favor this move only if Cigarette Girl is at the same time moved to Cigarette Girl (film). If for some reason people don't want to do this, I think it would be OK to move the DAB page which is now at Cigarette girl (disambiguation) to Cigarette girl. That would address the original problem identified by User:Netoholic. However, it does look strange for Cigarette girl (person) not be recognized as the primary topic of Cigarette girl. So something ought to be done. EdJohnston (talk) 02:59, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- WP:SMALLDETAILS gives an example of iron maiden vs. Iron Maiden - a generic term and a proper noun - just like this topic and the film(s)/etc. named for it. I don't see a good reason to deviate from that. Perhaps handling of the film could be a separate RM if you don't think it should be primary for the proper noun. -- Netoholic @ 03:29, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Support The person is clearly the primary topic for the lower case per above, 1,118 views for the person v 277 views for the 2 articles using upper case [[1]]. The person is clearly primary by PT#2. Since the 2009 film gets less views than the manga and there is also red linked Cigarette Girl (1947 film) I will propose moving the 2009 film. Crouch, Swale (talk) 08:08, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Support as primary per above. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:47, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Support per WP:PRECISE. This is the only article titled (lower case) "Cigarette girl". Articles titled "Cigarette Girl" are irrelevant to this proposal. Station1 (talk) 03:39, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- Support per above. Aoba47 (talk) 20:23, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
