Shouldn't the introduction at least mention that she is today primarily known for being the model for Eva Frame in Philip Roth's roman a clef "I Married a Communist"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.23.241.204 (talk) 05:48, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Latest film appearance

edit

hello,

subject's article currently states "Her most recent appearance in a Hollywood film was in the 1996 Sylvester Stallone film Daylight."

however, her page at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001954/ lists several roles since 1996 that aren't flagged as "tv" including "Kalamazoo? (2006)."

No National Theatre in 1947

edit

The text says 'She debuted at the Royal National Theatre as Ophelia to Paul Scofield's Hamlet. Bloom has written that during the production she had a crush on Scofield.'

As the National Theatre was not established until 1963 this has to be an error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BTB london (talkcontribs) 13:50, 16 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Fairly well known actress, all sections need general expansion, citing needed.

RE Television appearance on a show neglected to note in Miss Bloom's filmography

edit

Claire Bloom starred in a "Law and Order, Criminal Intent" episode, Season 3, Episode 12 first aired January 18, 2004. Miss Bloom played an aging actress, Mrs. Whitney-please review the show. I just watched it, very clever. May remind you of the extraordinary performance of Miss Gloria Swanson, in "Sunset Boulevard".--2604:6000:1418:C917:A024:ADCC:A4FF:A7E2 (talk) 12:17, 12 August 2019 (UTC)MOlly SowersReply

Hillard Elkins

edit

Trying to add a few citations to this article, and I'm looking for something to back up the statement that Bloom and her second husband divorced in 1972. (Obviously there are plenty of sites that just lift content directly from Wikipedia and aren't much use.) The Wisconsin Center for Theater and Film Research, where he left his papers, gives the year as 1976. [1] This obituary of Elkins in The Los Angeles Times says their marriage was dissolved in 1974. [2] This short article gives the year as 1972, but seems like the least reputable of the three. [3] Per$1$tenceofv1$1on (talk) 22:22, 9 July 2023 (UTC)Per$1$tenceofv1$1onReply

I can't find anything online which backs up the statement that Claire Bloom is observant; the JWA article on her (in its mention of her maternal grandmother) gives the impression that when she was a child her family were fairly secular. Discrepancy in 'first' Shakespeare performance?

edit

There's a discrepancy in her 'Acting career' section as it lists the later of two different performances of Hamlet, one in 1947 with Paul Scofield/Robert Helpmann ("Bloom debuted aged 16 at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre...") and one in 1948 ("Her London stage debut was in 1947. [...] The following year, she received acclaim for her portrayal of Ophelia in Hamlet starring Burton, the first of many works by William Shakespeare in which Bloom would appear," as her first appearance in a Shakespeare production.

I've removed this bolded language since it may just be referring to the fact that Hamlet was the first Shakespeare play she acted in -- but if that's the case, shouldn't that mention be moved up to the paragraph talking about her work at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, rather than lower down in her London stage acting section?
