An emerging concept
editStub article for this emerging concept which is gaining a wider recognition across a number of interest groups. The name 'Coachway' is only just starting to gain acceptance, however the Milton Keynes Coachway appears to have been in existnace for years under that name. The proposed High Wycombe Coachway currently in planning is also adopting the name. I will be adding more to the article in the next few days. PeterEastern (talk) 11:05, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Scope of article
editI am still feeling my way forward on the scope of the article. I think it should possibly be about the recent development of ideas around an express coach service within the UK, although the term Coachway is more international in scope. Possibly Coachway should redirect to Bus Rapid Transport and there should be a stub article there about developments in the UK for express services. This article is certainly not another place to discuss bus rapid transport in the UK in general (such as the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway) which is well covered already. Oxford - London Tube
editI've deleted the text about the OLT from the article becuase it talks about a particular route, not about a coachway. The reference to Lewknor is to a stop on the route, which can't really be described as a coachway interchange. (The reference to 'interchange' in the reference is to the motorway junction [M40 J6]). The Oxford to London coach route which is the highest frequency coach service in the UK operates between Oxford and London along the M40 motorway. It uses the Milton Keynes Coachway and a new High Wycombe Coachway is being planned. Other coachway interchanges are less formal. The Oxford to London coach route also stops by Junction 6 of the M40 near Lewknor where facilities were only provided after large numbers of people started parking their cars closeby while commuting into London.[1]

People in the Watlington area have been given an unexpected Christmas gift with news that their link to Oxford-London coaches will survive at least a little longer. Oxfordshire County Council's Transport Implementation Committee last month reluctantly voted to ditch the innovative Lewknor Taxibus service when current government funding runs out at the end of January. However the service, which connects Watlington with Oxford Tube coaches at Lewknor Interchange, looks to have gained a last-minute reprieve following a new proposal from the existing operator and a change of heart from Buckinghamshire County Council. The Taxibus service has won plaudits from users since it started experimentally at the end of January 2005. It has contributed to reduced car parking at Lewknor Interchange at junction 6 of the M40.

Other countries?
editAre there any other places in the world where these sorts of interchange is being used. One example would be Megabus's USA operation although the places I have checked seem to be in the city centres. Is the Peruvian 'Terraport' something similar or are these also in the centres of towns -there seems to be different between a bus station and a terraport. See this article.[1]. PeterEastern (talk)

Greyhound lines
editIn case anyone else is tempted, I agree with the reversion of my addition of Greyhound lines to the See Also. From Talk:List of Greyhound Bus stations, it doesn't look like Greyhound terminals are obviously different from ordinary bus stations in city centres anywhere. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 10:24, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
