Background
Athletics
  • "...time of the Sydney Olympics, and was making her only Olympic appearance." - no need for the comma. Assuming she is still eligible, it would be her first appearance, or only appear so far.
Comma removed. First would imply there are more, or are even likely to be more, which is spectacularly unlikely at her current age. Courcelles (talk) 21:37, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • "...first round of the women's 100 metres, and was drawn into..." - no need for the comma.
  • "...heats of the men's 100 metres, and was drawn into heat seven." - no need for the comma.
  • "He completed the race in a time of 10.68 seconds, seventh out of nine competitors in his heat, however his time was insufficient to advance, as 10.48 seconds was the slowest qualifying time." - this needs to be split up into two sentences.
  • "The gold medal was eventually won in 9.87 seconds by Maurice Greene of the United States; the silver was won by Ato Boldon of Trinidad and Tobago, and the bronze was earned by Obadele Thompson of Barbados." - either both pauses need to be semi-colons or both need to be commas. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 20:56, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
