screened out of competition

edit

"screened out of competition" .. what does that mean? --Green Cardamom (talk) 03:42, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • The Cannes Film Festival has a formal competition for the Palme d'Or. The festival also highlights films which the organizers consider significant in the Un Certain Regarde portion of the festival. Still other films are screened at Cannes for a variety of other reasons (the director is a judge that year, the film has been restored recently, the film fits the theme of the festival that year, etc.). These are films which "screen out of competition." They screen at the main theatre, the Théâtre Lumière (rather than the secondary theatre, the Salle Debussy). False

edit

Please tell me objectively, what makes a documentary false?, Is it the format, the content, the credentials or is this yet another tedious vigilante attack on Wikipedia? See para 2 of the article, as cut & paste below and as I found it at 4:06 (UTC) It was developed, financed and executive produced by Participant Media.[1][2] The idea for the film first occurred to the producers when the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Al Gore after the success of his false documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth.[5]

The bold highlighting was provided by me, simply for emphasis.Celsius100 (talk) 04:08, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
