Candidate for Deletion
editThis article was tagged back in May 2008 for WP:Verifiability . One month later the articles only contributor removed the tag without resolving the problem. This article does not contain any cited sources and does not conform to WP:MoS. Moreover the article is written like a Wiktionary entry rather than an encyclopedia. - I'm obviously opposed to deletion. I will work on adding citations if needed but, as far as I know, disambiguation pages don't need such things unless there is some content being disputed. --Loremaster (talk) 16:31, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
"different yet related concepts"? i don't think so
editTo me, these could all simmered down to just a few concepts. The first of which is:
- - Secret, non-disclosed (ie: non-transparent) affiliation, allegiance or influence of a politician or political party.
This blanket term covers most political, religious and ideological affliliations, all in one concept. It could replace all other concepts but one.
- Political activism conducted in such a way as to assure the concealment of both the activism itself and the identity of the activist.- - The secret adherence of a party or group to the doctrines of a political ideology while attempting to disguise it as another (e.g. crypto-fascism).
- - An individual who admires a political ideology and desires its implementation as a political system, but keeps this admiration and desire hidden to avoid political persecution or political suicide (e.g. crypto-communism).
- - The process by which groups of people make decisions that affect all stakeholders without transparency or accountability (e.g. political corruption).
- The intersection of occultism and a political ideology (e.g. synarchism: rule by secret societes).
The only other valid concept is this one:
- - The intersection of public-key cryptography and public policy or a political ideology (e.g. crypto-anarchism).
So we only really need 2 concepts. Roidroid (talk) 02:39, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that definitions 1, 2, and 3 could and should be simmered down into one simply concept. However, definitions 4, 5, and 6 are different and valid concepts that should be listed in this article. I will therefore work on merging the first 3 definitions. --Loremaster (talk) 17:52, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

The meaning of crypto-politics has expanded
editCrypto-politcs as one whole term is neither defined in Merriam-Webster nor Wiktionary. If it is instead to be defined by collecting the meaning of the prefix crypto- with the word politics, then this list should be expanded to include (again) crypto-anarchy and perhaps other articles. As the list stands, it includes only those terms where crypto- is taken as meaning 'hidden.' Consider the following quote, where the crypto- in crypto-politcs denotes politics as relating to cryptography. "Can we still see glimpses of May's visionary ideas today, and do encryption controversies enact an alternative kind of politics? Crypto-Politics sets out to answer these questions."
