Proposed move

edit

Common usage would dictate this page being at DC Thomson. Any thoughts? Hiding talk 17:00, 16 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

move

I agree with the proposed move and...

"he denied employment to people of the Roman Catholic faith"

Is there any actual proof of this? Either way I think it should be mentioned that if this was a policy of the past, it is no longer the case.

Changed text to emphasise that this was Thomson's personal policy, not a current company policy. added a reference, although its just another unreferenced website. :: Supergolden 12:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Support. DC Thomson is by far the commonest name.--Mais oui! 13:18, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

There are so many minor DC Thomson & Co comic strips out there... how many are notable?

edit

See Category:Beano strips and Category:DC Thomson Comics strips. Not all of these can be notable enough for seperate articles. The historical DC Thomson strips I've seen included many, many short-lived series and characters that were soon discontinued. Many don't even have articles on Wikipedia. While Dennis the Menace (UK), Desperate Dan and Oor Wullie would probably have non-trivial coverage from multiple outside sources, many of the minor comic strips may not.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 10:55, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is difficult to say. Most of the titles look solid, although I do wonder how much more can be said about Nikki (UK comic) and The Bash Street Kids Annual and The Beano Annual could go in the main entry. The series are a different matter and some of them I don't know. What concerns me are entries for comics like Buzz where everything is red linked. I'd suggest removing the list and break it up into sections for each title, descriptions could be written and if there are some with major sources they could be split off using Template:Main. You could then use this approach for the smaller series entries - merging some back into the main entry using the same kind of approach. (Emperor 13:13, 9 July 2007 (UTC))Reply

Nikki isn't mentioned on the DC Thomson Comics template. However, neither are any of the girls comics - Mandy, Judy, their merged version M&J, and of course Bunty. Digifiend (talk) 12:18, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Reunion radio 4

edit

There is another souce for this article available on radio 4's listen again site until Sunday 27 April 2008 at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/thereunion/ "Sue MacGregor presents the series which reunites a group of people intimately involved in a moment of modern history.

She gathers together a group of artists, writers and editors who have created and drawn a vast array of cartoon strip characters for popular children's comics such as The Beano and The Dandy for more than half a century at Scottish publishers DC Thomson". Three js of Dundee

edit

Looks like someone keeps ‘correcting’ Jute, Jam and Journalism to a different third j in Dundee. One correction made in 2021 is surely enough. 146.90.139.13 (talk) 04:26, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
