Dagmar Oakland(nee Edna Andersen) was born in San Francisco,Ca November 25,1893 and died in Burbank,Ca June 1989. her parents were Edward Andersen of Fredrikstad, Norway and Anna Marthine Olsen also of Norway. her siblings were Edward, Herbert(nee Hagbart)and Vivian. Her sister also was an actress of note, both on broadway and the silver screen. After the earthquake of 1906, Mrs Andersen(a widow since 1898) and the four children moved to Oakland, Ca and started their career as the Anker sisters (an old family name).
they changed it to the Oakland Sisters to reflect the area they came from. They performed as the Oakland Sisters (just two) in the Boston Juveniles, a vaudeville group and traveled the west coast to Seattle, Wa. The sisters ended up in New York performing with the follies and other productions. Vivian met and married John Murry, also an actor. They had one daughter Joan and moved to southern California. They continued their careers on the silver screen and in the 1940's had a small bookstore on Ventura Blvd. I am Gale Andersen Obser their great-grand-niece. I live in Ocala, Fl 352-622-3188.71.55.189.6822:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
