Per AFD consensus. KATMAKROFAN (talk) 00:22, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- There is no consensus yet... you should wait until the AfD discussion is finished before nominating a merge. —SomeoneNamedDerek (talk) 01:00, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- The AfD is closed now, wherefore this proposal should be closed too. Lordtobi (✉) 22:27, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose – Consensus at the AfD discussion was essentially for the article to be retained, despite that the close did not state "keep". Also, the song may be more notable than the subject. North America1000 23:03, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per Northamerica1000 above, PPAP's article is far more notable, while this article is not at all; either redirect this to PPAP or keep as-is. Lordtobi (✉) 23:07, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per my previous reasoning in the AfD discussion -> passes WP:NSONG. —SomeoneNamedDerek (talk) 23:39, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. Article meets WP:NSONG. AfD consensus reflected WP:GNG and NSONG as reasons why the article should remain in its current form. Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 02:59, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. It's song that is more notable than the one who is featured on it. ~Manila's PogingJuan 09:05, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per above reasoning. Aoba47 (talk) 17:02, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. It seems like both are notable (give the sources for the artist at the equivalent page at Japanese Wikipedia). However, the song is the more notable of the two. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 21:24, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. The song charted on multiple charts around the world and that alone makes the song worth keeping as its own page. Death Mach!n302 (talk) 21:28, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: not moved. (non-admin closure) JudgeRM (talk to me) 20:10, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
Daimaou Kosaka → Pikotaro – The page for PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen) links his name under the redirect, so I think this would be an good move. - @Aaron's The Best: best discuss this move. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:44, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose see also ja.wp In ictu oculi (talk) 08:54, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Either Pikotaro or Piko-Taro overwhelmingly seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME, receiving 2,580,000 Google results compared with just 16,700 for the present title. Also used by the usual reliable media sources such as the BBC and CNN. — Amakuru (talk) 09:46, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
- Question: Does Kosaka ever perform as a character other than Pikotaro? -- Zanimum (talk) 13:34, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- AFAIK, he is a comedian under his Daimaou Kosaka pseudonym, and just recently became a performer under his Pikotaro pseudonym. The current article is lacking a lot from the Japanese article, though we might need someone who is able to translate it properly. Also I cannot recall he was notable outside Japan before PPAP anyhow. Lordtobi (✉) 13:52, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose Pikotaro is the character/persona portrayed by the subject. From the Straits Times, "
Piko-Taro is the alter ego of comedian and DJ Daimaou Kosaka and...
." To be fair, Daimaou Kosaka is a pseudonym too, but it has a longer history. I think the current title is fine for now. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 19:13, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
Pikotaro his fictional persona, who is supposed to have been born 1963 (age 53), but according to the Japanese article Kosaka himself is born 1973 and is age 43. This needs to be checked and probably corrected. Pikotaro is also fictitiously married to a 78 year old woman. You need to keep reality separate from the shtick.--Kiyoweap (talk) 03:21, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
P.S. Pikotaro is supposed to be from Chiba, Japan, but the artist behind the character is actually from Aomori. --Kiyoweap (talk) 03:25, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - Too soon to use the nickname. Also, notability based on just one silly song shouldn't justify changing the title. --George Ho (talk) 06:36, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Other charting songs on Japan Hot 100
editI'm pretty sure this is the same PikoTaro, but Billboard neglected to merge the two. http://www.billboard.com/artist/7604511/piko-taro/chart -- Wishy-Washy (talk) 04:58, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
About birth date
editBecause I am using Google translation, English is changed, but please understand. Daimaou Kosaka was born in 1973 and Pikotaro was born in 1963. Please do not return it. If you have any doubts please read the Japanese version of Wikipedia.--おわさか (talk) 10:38, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
- @おわさか: I appended it yesterday, but please keep in mind: English Wikipedia has Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy, as Japanese Wikipedia has w:ja:Wikipedia:存命人物の伝記. You need provide a reliable source whatever the Japanese version says. Darklanlan (talk) 11:14, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
