editFrom 4x24: Mulder: Then you accept the possibility that belief in God is a lie? Scully: I don't think about it actually and I don't think that it can be proven. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.249.88 (talk) 09:30, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Trivia
editTrivia: Scully is a fan of the metal band Megadeth (I can't remember the episode, but should be in the first or in the second serie). Would anyone add it? (sorry for my english: I'm italian)
- Scully is not necessarily a fan of Megadeath. That assumption is based upon a one-line (likely joking) comment from Mulder in "Die Hand Die Verletz" (episode 2x14). 65.6.157.79 (talk) 01:44, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Long-winded, unobjective summaries
editThese long-winded, unobjective summaries are a joke. I'm going to try and edit them soon. Frey
(Added "presumably the child's father") If we cite the Mulder entry, we should keep it consistent, and it was never absolutely confirmed, despite "William" and "The Truth." User:Frey at last

cleaned up
editI tried to unify and clean up this article (a little bit), the edits made by some ip address were obviously made by someone unfamiliar with wikipedia. oh well. Jesse 03:22, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
I've been deleting unnecessary plot summaries and long quote passages of various sections. The article was/is very poorly organized with a lot of irrelevant (and sometimes erroneous) information.Marikology 23:20, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Great edits! Thanks. - Frey 03:41, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- I appreciate the symmetry with the Mulder page, however, the Parents section was too long-winded. I suggest the original author recover the text from the history and make a Margaret Scully page.Marikology 23:32, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Her quotes should be moved to wikiquote, like the mulder article. Cthulhu spawn 19:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Scully's Family
editI have repeatedly deleted redundant or unnecessary information from this section, simply because Scully's family is very peripheral to the show. Most of the information I deleted was "fanon"- POV based on speculation from one line of dialogue, making it inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. For example, Charles Scully is only mentioned a handful of times- it's too much to assume he has children, or anything else about him, besides his name. Many people call close younger boys their nephews, even if it's not officially so. The nephew Scully referred to in "Home" could have been anybody!
Other details about Emily Sim and William are included elsewhere in the article and do not need to be re-stated. (William even has his own page). Marikology 18:51, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Also, besides the mention of her nephew in "Home", Scully herself refered to her uncle in "Humbug". This, too, should be left out of the article.cw1925 19:20, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Immortality
editThe entire subject is speculation. If my addition is removed the entire section should be removed.
I went ahead and took out this whole section and moved it to the X-Files Wiki.... A link to it is on the Scully page under External Links.

- Restored mention of the multiple hints with a valid source. Not sure if it should be in the intro, but fits there better than any other current section, and I do not have the knowledge to do a proper expansion. —MJBurrage(T•C) 21:03, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Emily
editDo we know who her biological father is? Yellowstone County Girl 05:25, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Emily was conceived as part of a government experiment as a result of the tests done on Scully during her first abduction (see: Ascension, One Breath); presumably, Emily Sim is an alien-human hybrid, meaning that her 'biological father' by definition, doesn't exist and is alien in origin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.188.187.111 (talk) 02:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
A source that can be used Truth Is Out There: The Official Guide to the X Files
editThere is a book called Truth Is Out There: The Official Guide to the X Files by Brian Lowry. If you need more X-Files information (especially about development of episodes), get the book and cite it. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Mulder and Scully's current status
editWhy are people reverting the info about their current relationship status all the time to "ambiguous"? I just changed it back and I keep got a message saying my information was incorrect and not from a verifiable source when it is stated both in the movie and the official novelization that they are living together in the new movie.
- I suspected vandalism, so I reverted it. Seeing that you bring it here, I reassess my position and will not revert again. __meco (talk) 10:54, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
I think it frankly was somewhat ambiguous. The two were clearly still in love and I'm guessing they had some level of contact in the six years since The Truth. But I think it's unlikely that they were living together regularly since Mulder was still a fugitive while Scully obviously was not. Maybe that changed after Mulder was exonerated but before... serpentnight 9:39, 7 September 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.146.200.152 (talk)
Address
editDoes anyone know the source of Scully's address as being "107 E. Cordova St."? Gathering research for the X-Files Wiki, I've just finished watching the whole of The X-Files, looking for information about the homes of the series' main characters, but I can't find anywhere that the location of Scully's apartment, in more depth than "Georgetown", is given. The sentence here that claims she once lived at this specific street address has no citation of the source of the information and, though this claim is repeated on other websites, I'm unable to find any citation of the source. Shouldn't this information be removed, if it's discovered that it's not an officially established address for Scully? 84.67.134.19 (talk) 11:31, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm able to find on-line references to Cordova St. being an actual street, where exteriors of buildings were filmed for the series. It's unlikely but not impossible that the same street name was obscurely given as the fictional address where Scully supposedly lives and/or lived, especially since I've recently been through the entire series, looking for such information. Consequently, I've removed the reality information from the fictional information. Although the sentence stated only a former address, Scully is still living in Georgetown at the end of the television series, so I've also tried to add this information. 84.67.134.19 (talk) 11:55, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
A third X FIles Movie?
editHi. I'm a long time x-files fan and I was wondering if any of you out there think they might come out with another one. Please Respond. 67.239.123.194 (talk) 16:09, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Episode Count
editI think the info box lacks an episode count, like other characters have (e.g. Fox Mulder, Walter Skinner). --JPGoelz (talk) 19:20, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
"Scully Effect"
editSomeone should add a section on the "Scully Effect", where many young women and girls who watched in their formative years credit Scully for their career in science medicine FBI. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.18.160.33 (talk) 17:43, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Someone should remove this section or get proper sources for it because as it stands its far from well sourced and give people potentially wrong ideas about things, misinformation. Check out the sources used, both sources point to the same thing when referring to the scully effect, which is just an interview with Gillian Andersson where she says she has heard about it and they get letters from people saying Scully/Gillian inspired them. Thats an anecdote. Either make it clear in the part about the scully effect what the source actually says "Gillian Anderson have said that many fans have written to her and explained Scully was partly responsible for inspiring them to pursue STEM", or delete the part from the article, or put some effort into finding a source that has actual evidence for the effect (or against the existence of it).
A google result return a lot of mention of "The Scully Effect" but pretty much everything seems to either just explain what it is with no source (Scully inspired women to get into STEM) or the source is the part where Gillian Andersson have said she has heard about it. However since the effect seems so well known there should have been at least one academic study trying to actually find out how many women in STEM got that interest due to Scully that could be cited as an actual source for "The Scully Effect", either as verifying its "realness" or "busting the myth".
Either way as it stands right now its misinformation. Someone will read the article and leave thinking this is an established fact but the sources clearly establishes no such thing as a fact, its simply a claim made by Gillian Andersson and no source that goes beyond that is being used. Wikipedia needs to be more rigorous in its sourcing because people who read articles on wikipedia accept everything they read as undisputable facts and if the information in the article was far from scientifically verified and was instead solely based on a persons anecdotal claim then this needs to be made clear in the article itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.174.186.239 (talk) 14:10, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Metal music
editIt could be noteworthy that Scully is a fan of heavy metal music, as is revealed at the beginning of episode Die Hand Die Verletzt, especially as it seems in contradiction to her perceived Catholic faith. In the episode, a local sheriff expresses his view that metal music would teach satanism to local kids, and shortly after, Mulder brings up Scully's like for the genre, to which she replies by dismissing the sheriff's views on it as nonsense. --79.242.222.168 (talk) 04:49, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

Spoilers
editI haven't watched the X-Files yet. At the top of this article, it says that Mulder gets abducted in season 7. Isn't that a spoiler? Can we put it in a spoiler tag or put a warning at the top of the article? 77.21.174.18 (talk) 13:33, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
