Help Me – 1

Movie only mentions that Tom's married. Synopsis never mentions that Tom's married. Is it ok for me to write this Information: [Tom Armstrong (Sean Patrick Flanery) is a Detective in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his best friend and partner Ryan Alba (Greg Serano). Tom and Ryan have spent the last three years trying to locate an international hitman known as the Lion (Joe Pantoliano), however, the assassin has always been one step ahead. One night, Tom, Ryan, & Ryan's daughter plan to have a Christmas Dinner waiting for Tom's wife Kelly (Michelle Greathouse). The police receives a tip from a man claiming that he suspects the Lion is his son, and he provides the police with a location. Tom, Ryan and other law enforcement arrive at the suspect's house, only to discover that the suspect is gone and they find Kelly tied up in the basement with explosives on the walls, and Kelly surrounded by a black outline. The synopsis already mentions "Tom’s wife Kelly (Michelle Greathouse)". The Christmas dinner that doesn't happen doesn't sound like a significant plot point to me. Huon (talk) 00:42, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Do you even understand what I'm trying to Say? I don't like Suspense. At the Beginning of this Synopsis, I thought that Tom was just a Cop who wasn't Married yet. When the Synopsis started Talking about Bombs, the Last Minute reveals that Tom's married. Don't you feel that It's really Messed up for People to be Unaware that Tom's married? Don't you want to Read the Synopsis before the Movie?(50.173.3.170 (talk) 13:20, 20 August 2014 (UTC)).

We mention the wife at the point in the plot where she becomes relevant. Up to that point, it doesn't really matter whether Tom is married or not. In fact, it doesn't really matter at that point either - the importance of Kelly to the plot is that her arranged death shows that the bad guy is Just Plain Evil, and that it serves as motivation for the hero. It wouldn't have made the least difference for the movie if instead of a wife it had been a beloved girlfriend, Tom's grandmother, his niece, or his partner of many years. Since It matters to me if a Character's married or Not, it's becuz I hate Suspense. Fine, I'll not Talk about Tom's marriage in the Beginning of the Summary so that's why I hate you (Huon). At the end of the Synopsis, I see the phrase "Young Policeman" but I didn't know that another Cop came to Ordonez's house. I didn't know that Kaplow was going to kill another cop. "Young Policeman" sounds like Tom only, so is it ok for me to specifically say, "Unfortunately, an extra cop shows up. Kaplow pretends to be a cop. Other cop lowers his gun. Kaplow & the cop injure each other. Kaplow kills the other cop. Kaplow's getting on everyone's nerves because he killed too many innocent people. Tom calls Kaplow, who explodes in a police car." Why did another cop show up? Did Neighbors call 911 about Domestic Disturbance?(50.173.3.170 (talk) 22:44, 20 August 2014 (UTC)).

While the plot summary certainly could do with some work, I do not think your suggestion is a significant improvement. It's rather full of editorial comments and personal opinion, the grammar would need work, and it's even longer than what we currently have. The entire article is little more than one big plot summary. We should shorten that part and remove irrelevant details while expanding our coverage of the film's real-world significance instead. The Plot Summary doesn't say that, "Tom's friend Ryan's daughter gets kidnapped by Kaplow. Kaplow forces Ryan to kill Cordero. Ryan kills Cordero. Cordero's other bodyguard kills Ryan." When I saw the Movie, people & I didn't know about those other events including Ryan's death. So can I please write about Tom's friend Ryan's death. This article is not protected and can be edited, so I don't understand your concern. If this has to do with the previous discussion above, then we should listen to editor Huon and realize that the article has greater needs than to make the plot summary even longer. Too many details may spoil the film for others. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia – it is not a film database like IMDB. Editors need to make film articles encyclopedic. Are you saying that Ryan's death will spoil the film? According to other Wikipedia Movies, those other Plot Summaries have All the Events so Why can't We do the Same Thing for Deadly Impact?(50.173.3.170 (talk) 13:02, 21 August 2014 (UTC)).

Because the plot summary is already very long and needs to be more concise, not made longer. The thing to remember is that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information (please click on this link). • To expand on the above, I wish to invite 50.173.3.162 to visit and study MOS:FILM with special attention paid to WP:FILMPLOT instructing "Plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words". It was the earlier version being so very long, providing far too much detail and essentially recounting the film scene by scene, that caught attention of editors.
