@Alalch E.: No matter how much coverage a particular topic has, if it is merely routine news coverage that is insufficient to demonstrate the topic has a lasting effect or persistent coverage then the topic might not be notable. For an article to be worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia it needs to be written in an encyclopedic style. My issue is not with the subject but with how the article is written. Victims of serious crimes are often only notable for that event, which makes it particularly tough to demonstrate notability. When writing these sorts of articles, editors need to look past the news stories and mine sources for their encyclopedic value. I have already suggested one direction the article could be expanded. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 00:14, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but I don't need to hear that from you. I am well-versed in policy. Those are generalities. Better is better and more encyclopedic is more encyclopedic. I am afraid that this conversation is of unclear utility and direction, with no actionable points being covered. If your idea is truly "the article must become better or it should be deleted", just please don't. I am not interested in this topic at the moment to such a degree that I would work on this article, I will be traveling and am busy with other things, but as far as notability goes, this is more clearly notable than at least 90% of murder articles on Wikipedia, and is one of the most notable cases in the history of the region. There are commentary and retrospective pieces. It's a public scandal. The media coverage itself has already become a topic of in-depth coverage. The girl being killed was announced by the country's president. A suspect's brother died or was killed during a police interrogation, and it appears that there was a false announcement that he died due to natural causes (source, another, another). The case was reassigned to a different prosecutor's office (in a different city). The only two suspects have been in custody for a while, but the body has not yet been found. The amber alert angle is completely insignificant.—Alalch E.02:11, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am not suggesting this article be deleted; only that it needs to be rewritten so that it does not appear to be either news or a memorial to a crime victim. All the things you mention should be discussed in the article. Currently none of this scandal is even hinted at in the article. Thank you for suggesting further lines of expanding this article. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:58, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
