Nonsensical Statement

The veracity of "the Holocaust" or his "essential truth" weren't what the trial was about, although defending that proposition was of course the bigger issue at hand. David Irving accused her of libel for being called a "Holocaust Denier". What the Lipstadt team had to prove was that this label was somehow warranted and NOT just a wrongful accusation she was making. A term like "Holocaust Denier" is quite ambiguous for several reasons as this is loaded language and can mean several things. Ironically proving her point costed Lipstadt millions of pounds in terms of lawyers and several paid "experts". She got quite substantial donations for doing this and Irving had to face a civil lawsuit ultimately bankrupting him. David Irving also made the big mistake of rejecting experts that would support his case, which on it's own would again touch on the veracity of the Holocaust? --41.151.208.219 (talk) 19:16, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

It's a good point to distinguish between proving someone lies intentionally and proving something did (or did not) happen, as these are two different things, but are obviously linked for to expose a liar, one must know the truth. I would not call this nonsensical as you do, but maybe oversimplified or off-focus. The sentence now (Oct 2017) reads "...must prove that Irving lied about the Holocaust", so the issue is resolved. --87.239.207.60 (talk) 01:36, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
