Release year vs Story year

edit

Bovineboy2008 says that this film is not necessarily 2015; it might be a year like 2024. Is this likely?? Georgia guy (talk) 12:56, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

This film was released in 2015. As for the story year, it is irrelevant since the world is completely fictional and combines multiple franchise worlds into one. The only one that was somewhat definitive for timeline was that of Mulan. For the sake of the discussion, period set would be before the 18th century. Assuming standard age progression, it would put this film within 40 years of the original film periods. Since not all the characters are magical or endowed with magical protection and in fact had an actual timeline of growth to pace that of real world humanity, the human characters would not have been 'preserved' to extend well into the 21st century. For example, Sleeping Beauty Aurora, Belle, Lonnie daughter of Fa Mulan, Carlos son of Cruella de Vil, Audrey daughter of Aurora, and a few others are all human without magical endowment and would be bound to normal age growth and progression.

Sequel

edit

Is let alone on the sequel of the film in the article?. At the end of the film Dove Cameron reads "that that is not end of the story", something more or less said. Is it because there are no reliable sources, or it has not confirmed anything yet?.--Philip J Fry (talk) 14:12, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

A sequel is planned and likely being plotted out, story boarded, scripted, filmed, etc. — Kevintampa5 (talk) 02:38, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Mitchel Hope

edit

Its pointed out in the cast section that mitchel hope didn't sang at all during the entire movie, as there was someone else providng his singin voice. Here's the thing, if this is true then why is mitchel hope's name included in the soundtrack section instead of the name of the one that provided the voice for all the song that "Mitchel Hope" sang? Did mitchel hope actually sang or not? can someone clear this out for me? And another thing, someoe should fix the redirection problem in mitchel hope's redirection link as it redirects you to the movie's page not hope's own page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drumerwritter (talkcontribs) 07:51, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I removed the redirect and am currently creating his own page.MonroeHarless (talk) 17:38, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Descendants wicked world

edit

Can wicked world be really considered a spin off? i mean, wicked world's story obviously happens after the events of the movie so why all it a spin off? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drumerwritter (talkcontribs) 07:54, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

What do you think that word means? See Spin-off (media). — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 07:57, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Villains?

edit

Just want to discuss villains that are hinted in the Descendants novel series. There are those that seem irrelevant: Clayton from Tarzan should be push aside Gaston from Beauty and the Beast due to their similarity. Governor John Ratcliffe from Pocahontas storyline contrasts. Mother Gothel from Tangled is overage and resuscitation impossible. Shere Khan from The Jungle Book, Scar from The Lion King, and Professor Padraic Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective, are animals how can they fit in? The Horned King from The Black Cauldron is supposedly an undead being.

Everyone who wants to share their opinions, or even heroes, feel free to. Nanashi II(Talk) November 14, 2015.

Cast list – objecting to how it is currently organized

edit

The 'Cast' list at this article was organized into "Heroes"/"Villains"/etc. with this edit by an IP on February 25, 2015. Before that point, it was organized in the form of a "traditional" film cast list. I object to the current organization – it makes figuring out the crediting order of the actors in the film impossible, and is effectively organizing the cast by WP:OR criteria – and I feel the 'Cast' listing should be restored in a "traditional" cast list, based on the order of the credits in the film.

Please indicate if you "support" or "oppose" such a change (and please provide your reasoning for such). If there are no objections or opinions offered on this issue at all, I will restore the "traditional" cast list structure in the near future. --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:13, 22 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Done – cast put back in order of end-credits. Also, I cut the "minor" cast from the cast listing as per WP:FILMCAST – those currently listed were "main" cast of the film, according to the film's end credits. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:02, 29 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

"Disney Channel Original Productions"

edit

Can someone provide a reliable source showing that "Disney Channel Original Productions" exists as a company? Most google hits direct to this article. As per citation requirements, its liable to be deleted. Thanks -- Rockstonetalk to me! 21:13, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

WP:PRIMARY covers this. We don't need a physical citation when the it comes from the credits themselves. Amaury21:16, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Then cite the primary source? That would actually be fine, I think. -- Rockstonetalk to me! 21:17, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
IMDB says the companies are "Bad Angels Productions, A 5678 Production, and Disney Channel (as Disney Channel Original Movie)" See here. Not sure how reliable it is, but just trying to help. Best, -- Rockstonetalk to me! 21:19, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
IMDb is WP:NOTRS. And WP:PRIMARY sources, as I stated, don't require physical citations, because it comes straight from the credits of a film or series. In other words, you don't need to source primary sources. Amaury21:25, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
It looks like "original productions" is descriptive of "Disney Channel" being the actual company production credit. IMDb likely has it right and they do generally transcribe their information from the primary source credits. Good as a convenience but the source is still the credits. Not about magic?

edit

this edit removed the category for films about magic. But how exactly is that not defining to this film? The film is about magic, it has a plot based on such. What exactly is "non-defining" about that? 76.123.154.122 (talk) 19:28, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

It's WP:NOTDEFINING – it's not a movie "about magic", it's a movie "with magic". There's difference. --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:09, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
What exactly is the difference? This movie's plot involves magic as a major theme. If it isn't really about magic, which movies are? 104.188.130.189 (talk) 22:45, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
It isn't a major theme, though, it is just part of the fantasy environment. The fact that it isn't mentioned in the lead is a key showing it isn't defining for the film. Fantasy is in the lead. That is a category for the film and fantasies include magical elements so that is sufficient for this film. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geraldo Perez (talkcontribs) 00:43, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
