Merge
editThis group is known as Deshi in Assam and Nashya Shaikh in West Bengal. Simple google search will show abundant sources agreeing with this. SalamAlayka (talk) 21:28, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Chaipau: thoughts? SalamAlayka (talk) 19:33, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
- I think they are different communities of people and a merge is probably not appropriate. It could be merged only if both groups claim they are same. As far as I am aware, the group in Assam do not identify with the West Bengal group. Chaipau (talk) 19:38, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
- can you explain why cow is called goru in Assamese and gaw or gye in hindi..
- Similarly the same community is named by different people in different area.if you conduct linguistic survey it will be very clearly that nashya sheikh of west bangal and deshi or ujani in Assam are same community. 103.103.52.3 (talk) 18:09, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- Closing, with no merge, given the uncontested objection and stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 15:09, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
