Notes on plan for name correction

• Desminocnemis - our genus and species articles
• Desmidocnemis - probably correct

Sevela used to have Desminocnemis (archived at https://web.archive.org/web/20140109141326/http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/bio/life/insecta/lepidoptera/ditrysia/noctuoidea/arctiidae/ctenuchinae/desminocnemis/index.html). That page references the original description at http://www.archive.org/stream/entomologischeze331872ento#page/346/search/Desmidocnemis which has the spelling Desmidocnemis. That means Savela used to be in error and we are now in error.

Sevela now has nothing for Desminocnemis, but has Desmidocnemis as a synonym for Herea. We have Herea with the same species as Savela.

The species we have under Desminocnemis, with the corrected generic name would be:

• Desmidocnemis hypochryseis which Savela has as a synonym for Hyalomis hypochryseis, which we have as a synonym of Desminocnemis hypochryseis.
• Desmidocnemis platyleuca which Savela has as a synonym for Hyalomis platyleuca, which we have as a synonym for Desminocnemis platyleuca.
• Desmidocnemis prittwitzi which Savela has as a synonym of Herea prittwitzi, which we have as an article, which has Desmidocnemis prittwitzi as a synonym.

Hyalomis has the first two above listed as former species.

So, I think there should be no Desminocnemis in Wikipedia. The species which used to be listed under it should be changed to redirects to the appropriate species as listed by Savela.

Now Desminocnemis and Desmidocnemis are redirects to Herea. The misspelled species names which were listed under Desminocnemis are now redirects to Hyalomis hypochryseis, Hyalomis platyleuca and Herea prittwitzi. I think this is resolved. Thank you.  SchreiberBike | ⌨
