Where's Gru's mom?

Julie Andrews is one of my favorite actresses, and I was so sad to see her character reduced to just a silent cameo in the second DM film. Did she die in between the events of that film and this one? If so, how will her death be acknowledged? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.122.0.9 (talk) 14:39, 15 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Add a reviews section. Rotten Tomatoes has published 5 reviews so far. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/despicable_me_3 2601:585:4200:1831:DD2A:D34E:9A1:B40 (talk) 18:51, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not done, wait until its released. Saves on spoilers then. Nördic Nightfury 07:15, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, technically, WP:SPOILER says we shouldn't decline to include information merely to avoid spoilers. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 07:22, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reception

edit

Nordic Nightfury, can you explain why you blanked the reception? Your edit summary says "it is advised to only post metacritic reviews after release", but I'm aware of no such guideline or policy. The only post you've made about this so far has been concern about spoilers, which is in violation of WP:SPOILER. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 19:30, 17 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

NinjaRobotPirate: At the time I was sceptical about the fact that reviews on that site could be from "any Tom, Dick or Harry" but it doesn't look that way. I however, reserve the right to say that some bias may have been made when the critics who wrote the reviews. Nördic Nightfury 08:15, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Nah, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic are fine. They're mentioned in MOS:FILM#Critical response and WP:FILM/R. Parts of those websites are user-generated, but they're clearly labeled as such. There's no rule that you have to wait until a film is released before adding a Rotten Tomatoes score. Critics often write reviews weeks or even months before a theatrical released because they've seen the films at festivals. These reviews are just as legitimate as the ones that come around once the film is theatrically released. I'm not sure what you're saying about "some bias may have been made", but WP:BIAS specifically says biased sources are allowed on Wikipedia. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:25, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Production Company

edit

Universal is not a Production Company, its just a distributor. Crazybob2014 (talk) 03:17, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

It's not that simple, unfortunately. Universal is a studio, which means it can either produce and distribute, or only distribute. "Produce" here tend to mean financing and making decisions and including production companies. Some production companies work exclusively for studios, and I think Illumination is one such case here. A studio is only a distributor when it buys rights to a film already independently produced. This usually happens through one of the studio's independent branches. For example, that independent branch could produce and distribute a film, or it could buy distribution rights for a film that appeared at a film festival to show it in theaters. But studios themselves mainly are producing and distributing. The infobox is too limited to make that distinction. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 03:53, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Easier to just go by the sources. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:07, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's a good source, I've not used that before. I added the archiveurl and archivedate since the page drops movies now in the past. Glad this lines up with what I explained above (for general awareness). Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 11:43, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok then. Then how about we put Universal as a production company in all of the Illumination films that make, huh?! Crazybob2014 (talk) 20:04, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Other Tunes

edit

I think it would be a good idea to list all the other 80s tunes used in the movie, just for completeness' sake ( I saw the movie today for the very first time in the cinema ). Alrik Fassbauer (talk) 20:39, 19 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

DVD Release Date

edit

I'm not sure that the U.S. DVD release is accurate. The source that lists it only shows the date listed from Amazon as October 2017, and the links to the Amazon pages do not have a date. Again, there aren't any other websites, including Amazon itself and the Universal Studios DVD website, that show this coming out on October 10th. I think that the source for this is inaccurate.

Review

edit

I just watched the film today and I thought about character Balthazar;his charisma wasn't as consistent or electric as it was in the trailer. He dances to his music during his evildoing but it is put to limits throughout the film and he aims more to be someone who wants to put Gru's family in danger but maybe if the film was based around his jokes it would be better in some biased opinion........ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edomrak52 (talkcontribs) 14:43, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Is DM3 the fourth in the franchise?

edit

The article says DM3 is the fourth film in the franchise. The series article refers to it as the third. There is a Minions prequel. Is "fourth" correct, or should it be edited to "third"? -- SGBailey (talk) 06:36, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

DM3 is the fourth film chronologically released in the Despicable Me franchise, which includes both DM and the Minions spin-off; and indeed DM3 is the third film released in the main Despicable Me series, while Minions is a spin-off prequel series -Gouleg (TalkContribs) 20:47, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
It is also closer to a South Park movie with gru and minions. Everything seemed like crappy SP jokes than the kind in the other DM movies. 24.32.193.127 (talk) 01:40, 25 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Y: The score for Despicable Me 3 was jointly composed by Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams, after doing so for Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013). Unlike the albums of the first two films, and the spin-off franchise Minions (2015), which were released into a single album, containing both the songs and score, the fourth instalment had two separate albums were released for the songs and score.[4]

The soundtrack album featured five original songs produced by Williams and few hit songs from the 1980s, performed by Michael Jackson, Madonna, Nena, A-ha among several others. Few themes from the first two instalments were also featured. Two singles from the album – "Yellow Light"[5][6] and "There's Something Special"[7] – were released on June 8 and 13, 2017. Columbia Records and Williams' i am OTHER label released the soundtrack on June 23, 2017,[8] whereas Back Lot Music released the film score on June 30, 2017 coinciding with the film's theatrical release.[9] 223.190.219.111 (talk) 16:24, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Diary of Gru and His Minions Season 1 And 2

edit

Diary of Gru and His Minions Designed the visual style of eleven 2D animated shorts for Despicable Me 3. Sample of character designs (left) and title card lettering (above).

The shorts were later renamed to Minions and Friends (小黄人和萌友/小黄人与格鲁日记).

The Minions 2D Short were produced to support the Minions 2 movie, which was delayed by a year due to COVID-19 restrictions in the movie theater. The shorts were renamed “Minions & Friends” in China and “Saturday Morning Minions” in the United States. They were first released on China’s Migu Platform and later on Illumination’s YouTube Channel.

The Titlecards and Credits are in China, but not in the United States. 2601:84:8D80:C4E0:6868:92B9:C68C:DC6B (talk) 00:21, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
