User JohnnyZee removed an entire length of folk lore and legend regarding the Dhillon name because he objected to one line, which suggested that Delhi was named after King Dhilu. The veracity of that statement is beyond me, but he should at least observe that this same statement appears in the article about Delhi as well. Moreover, he removed the fascinating bit about the lineage tracing back to the times of the Mahabharata, but left in what was clearly a piece of vandalism: someone had written the line "Yesterday I went to Dhillon video and ordered the movie 'Kachi'". It's not clear to me that JohnnyZee has the best intentions in mind when it comes to this article.

Vanadalism etc.

edit

As a Dhillon, I have every interest in having this page be historically accurate. To consider what I edit to be vandalism is inappropriate. Because I didn't see the line about Dhillon Video & Kuchi, doesn't mean I accept the content, it means I didn't notice it. I have other things to do, as we all do. I can't be on this website 24/7 to monitor the page. To say I am a vandal because I didn't remove content is ridiculous. Why didn't India50 remove the content the day it came up? Also, to include content because it is interesting or because it is folklore isn't valid in my eyes. Include a "folklore" section if you want to include information that has no historic proof. Most of us accessing this page are proud Dhillons, and if others are trying to learn about our stature and greatness, they should be reading accurate information... not bedtime stories.

Satyarth Prakash by Swami Dayananda Saraswati

edit

I bought a copy of Satyarth Prakash and there's no mention of Dhillons in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sainiboyy (talkcontribs) 07:17, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's fiction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ucb amateur (talkcontribs) 07:22, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have read the book in Punjabi by Swami Dayanda and it mentioned Dhillons being descendants of King Dhilu. So Sainiboyy please stop deleting stuff from this page. You worry about facts on Saini page. Let me handle facts on Dhillon's page. -- Hdhillon007

There no such mention and your lying. This is not jattworld.com where you can write whatever you want.

The edit warring on this article has been brought to my attention. It needs to stop now: instead of communicating your positions using the edit summaries, please explain them here. When doing so, please do reference the Wikipedia policies etc upon which you are relying for your argument, such as WP:V and WP:RS. Also, please do not engage in personal attacks: comment on the content, not the individual. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 06:51, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Sitush sityush, i hv seen you butchering other pages tool stop being DESTRUCTIVE and COUNTER PRODUCTIVE. COnsider all edits as GOOD FAITH unless can you conclusively prove them otherwise. Leave your narrow reviewer/editor biases aside. Behave and do not drive other editors off WP and I have noticed you are tend to act rude to others (seen your comments to others). Learn to respect co-editors and do not act as WP terrorist. Help people in their learnign curve and use pragmatic approach and commonsense. this is what happens when authority is put oin the hands of undeserving. If you are frustarted in your life and it is not good enough, I suggest you stay off WP until your life improves. May you be cured, spare the world and WP and other editors here your destruction. Good luck. Vdhillon (talk)

Find some reliable sources and you can insert whatever you want. Including the info that you do will almost certainly mean removing the names from the list, though - see User:Sitush/Common#Castelists. I've previously pointed you to WP:RS but you seem to be ignoring it. I'm reverting you again, per policy, and I suggest that you take a read of WP:GS/Caste. - Sitush (talk) 16:58, 7 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Among the sources that you used were a caste website, which is only reliable for statements about itself, and Joshua Project, which has been deemed to be unreliable in discussions at the reliable sources noticeboard. To give an example from elsewhere, Helen Reddy is highly unlikely to be a Reddy. - Sitush (talk) 17:03, 7 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
First rule is consider everything GOOD FAITH, before you butcher it. If you can not conclusively prove that a specific source is NOT a reliable suorce then leave it in there. I have seen your reverts of others work where you left very RUDE remarks (nonsense, etc). Tone it down, do not misuse admin authority somehow you have unfortunately ended you. You seem to excel at use of WP templates, warning, etc which lot of editors don't and you tend to misuse those in destructive manner to throw other editors off WP, make them lose interest, I saw you on Suraj Mal page your edit wars with others, later it was resolved when someone with better judgment allowed others edit after silencing you but seems you came back after few months and reverted those "accepted" edits, that is very negative tactic of attrition. I was highly disgusted with your approach towards others. Also, you seems to carry a PERSONAL UNFOUNDED BIAS against certain sources. Make yourself USEFUL at WP, improve articles, DO NOT MASS BUTCHER others edits. Instead of increasing you edit counts but butcher, butcher, butcher and leaving arrogant rude comments, better pick very few pages and improve those. BE productive, not destructive. It takes lot more effort to create than to destroy/butcher. Anyone can be a butcher, specially with inflated ego, arrogant attitude and unworthy authority. It takes lot more to be a constructive leader. Be a useful WP admin who leaves a POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT behind, please do not be WP DESTRUCTIVE TALIBAN BULLY. When some misguided frustrated-soul admins act as mass force of destruction, it permanently pushes off hundreds of editors off WP. A lot many can't be bothered in wasting time with edit wars or countering WP talibans. Most editors actually have a JOB, HAPPY LIFE and FAMILY, WP is not their only place to find illusion of success and power :)

CONSTRUCTIVE ACTIONABLE FEEDBACK FOR YOU I find you ... smart, intelligent and passionate ... but rude, destructive and counter-productive with very narrow and heavily biased mindset about sources, etc who lacks vision and bigger picture :) Butchering others work with biased and narrow tunnel vision, issuing warnings to people, dragging editors in a tiring war of attition, running people off WP instead of help their learning curve, etc is not going to improve your life, only you have the power to change it for better :) You have the option to ignore it at your own peril, even get further angry at me and try to act more destructive in vengeance (which I hv seen you with other editors), but again none of this is going to improve your life. Please cast your ego aside, take a break from WP for few months, refocus on your life, resolve all those issues, come back as a HAPPY and CONSTRUCTIVE ADMIN (who creates, not destroy, who leaves positive pshycological footprint). Good luck buddy :)

Jat tribe

edit

@Sitush:, Source says "The Dhillons are one of the largest Jat tribes in the Punjab." Source publisher is very reputed Oxford University Press. So, I think my edit was valid. What kind of paraphrasing is needed?--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 15:54, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Well, that is not what you said in the article, which concerns a surname rather than a tribe. You said Dhillon is a Jat surname used in the Punjab region. According to your quote, the sources does not even mention it as being a surname. I'm misunderstanding something, obviously, but even if the source does say it is a surname used by Jats etc, that doesn't mean it is a surname only used by Jats, which is what you said. - Sitush (talk) 16:30, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Sitush: Well then what about, "Dhillon is a Jat tribe. Notable people with surname as Dhillon include:"--Hindust@niक्या करें? बातें! 15:47, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Not really. It still implies that the people listed are of the tribe/clan, which they may not be. The article concerning the Dhillon tribe/clan was effectively replaced because it wasn't a notable community (as in, we couldn't find multiple independent sources that discussed it rather than just name-checked its existence). - Sitush (talk) 16:06, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
