Move from Kenya
editThis article repeats something I heard from the BBC which stretches belief - that he was born in India, then his family had to flee Kenya for the UK when he was only one year old. This means that they can't have been in Kenya for very long! Are we all completely sure that the BBC didn't just mean he was born into a Hindu/Indian background in Kenya? Milvinder 12:48, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. There seems to be something missing between being born in India and moving from Kenya to the UK. Maybe an error of omission? Brian Pearson 00:35, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not improbable. It wasn't unheard of for women to return to their native place to give birth. My grandma travelled from St. Petersburg to Belarus to have my mom - not extraordinary. - crz crztalk 00:38, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- However, the distance between St. Petersburg and Belarus is rather less than that between Kenya and India. How many British ex-pats in New Zealand head back to the UK to give birth? It would not be very eco-friendly if they did! Milvinder 21:53, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- At least one, my mom did it with me.Hypnosadist 22:10, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

- If it is correct, I think the writing needs improvement. I did a quick search but didn't find much about Dhiren Barot's past. Brian Pearson 00:53, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Some reports don't mention Kenya, maybe BBC made a mistake? -- Esemono 00:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Prison attacks - support claims please
editRe the new second paragraph in the Prison attacks section beginning: 'Barot's lawyer, Mudassar Arani...'
The one link given does not seem to support the claims in this paragraph, particularly concerning prison officers being required to be in permanent attendance to Barot. I can't find that anywhere in your link. Please show us where that came from or remove it. I found what is possibly a more pertinant link on the same site (cageprisoners) that is authored by the lawyer Arani and refers to the events:
http://www.cageprisoners.com/articles.php?id=21103
I think it would be good to replace the old link with this one or include both in places where they may each be more relevant. It would also be more in keeping with wiki practice (and the rest of this article) if the direct links were not just plopped into the middle of text but linked to the list of references in the correct format. Can you or someone do that please? I'm having a nervous breakdown atm and can't give this my attention.
But most importantly, that thing about permanent supervision by prison officers and them being unusually absent during the attack REALLY needs supporting with a reference - neither of these two links (yours and mine) seem to refer to this point. We can't get away with just saying stuff we may have read or heard and not referencing it - PARTICULARLY on such a contraversial point (that it is being implied that the officers were complicit in the attack by an unusual and suspicious absence). Please give this support asap, or it should be removed.
