Talk:Diamond Head, Hawaii

Volcano or Not?

edit

The article states "Many tourists visiting Hawaii believe that Diamond Head is a volcano although it really isn't."

This seems a bit odd. The opening sentence says that Diamond Head is a "Tuff Cone" which redirects to volcano.

So, is it a volcano or not? And if NOT, then could this be reworded to something more neutral like "Diamond Head is often mistaken for a volcano, <and here's why it isn't>." 64.173.240.130 22:39, 23 February 2007

It states in the intro that it is a "tuff cone" and the reader is one click away from learning the difference between what a true volcano is compared to a tuff or ash cone. The geology section goes on to describe it further... --Travis Thurston+ 01:52, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

GEOLOGY

edit

While the Koʻolau Range is about 2.6 million years old, Diamond Head is estimated to be about 150,000 years old and extinct for 150,000 years.

I don't understand what the second part of this sentence is trying to say. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.230.167.170 (talk) 20:48, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

Seems that the page has become overrun with media. See WP:NOTREPOSITORY Many of these images are of poor quality and I'd suggest that we move the gallery contents to as wp discourages galleries unless they are important to the article. See WP:Galleries. I propose we weed through what's there and find a home for the rest (perhaps a sisiterlink to wikimedia if people want more). Any thoughts? --Travis Thurston+ 01:52, 3 August 2011 (UTC) higvnbvhfgbhfgnbhjgfnbjfngj — Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.88.226.9 (talk) 21:36, 11 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The topographic map in the infobox should be more zoomed in

edit

The existing link shows Diamondhead as only a dot. If it's going to be a topographic map of that feature, you need to zoom in.Will (Talk - contribs) 09:21, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
