Coining the term
editHello,
I don't know whether this will be of interest to Wikipedia in terms of who originally coined the term, "Digital Native," but I believe it was me in 1997, and its first use in public was for the domain I registered for the term in 1998. You can see the first release of the website here: https://web.archive.org/web/19981206120615/http://www.digital-native.com/.
As you can see, the original website is likely culturally insensitive by today's standards, and I did upgrade it to be more mindful and professional as I matured (http://www.digital-native.com). I intended it to mean essentially what everyone took it to mean: people who consider "digital" to be their native environment, but I was also applying it to myself and my little consulting biz.
At any rate, feel free to mention this if you think it adds to the history of the term. Thanks for all you do to provide relevant, truthful information to the world. I support Wikipedia whenever I can.
Sincerely, David Simerly Dksimerly (talk) 18:46, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
