editShe is a signer on the program. SHe deserves her own page? WHy did you take this page away? It makes no sense! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kennyhoo (talk • contribs) .
- At this point, we have no information on her other than that she is on the show. For now, it would be better to just have a redirect to the show's page which contains the only information that was in her own article - that she is from Johannesburg, South Africa. When we know more about her (and perhaps she becomes more notable), it will be easy to edit this redirect and change it back into an article of more substance. --Brian G 19:59, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Ok I guess it does make a lot of sense:) Thanks for the info. I am learning. Kenny
Dilana has reached a level of fame, via her weekly peformances on primetime network television, that is sufficient to justify a Wikipedia page in her name. For example, a recent (safe) Google search of [Dilana rockstar] returns 116,000 hits. You should read some of them. She is quite a phenomenon. -- aurbach, 4:04 p.m. CST, Aug 2, 2006
I moved the progress below bio. I think the progress of a person on a TV show is a bit overkill and should not be here, but at the least should be below her bio.
Cleanup
editThis article does not, in my opinion, read like a professional encyclopedia entry on a person. I don't think we need word-for-word transcriptions of the televised comments for every one of her performances (comments that are transcribed fairly poorly, at that). I also don't feel that it's necessary to point out as 'Trivia' that someone from South Africa practices South African customs. -Rikoshi 21:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC).
- Hi Rikoshi, while I think your comment on cleanup is valid, please try to keep a tone in which is a positive one. I don't think you were intending negativity, but that aside about comments being transcribed poorly, could come be perceived as insulting to the contributor. I just visited this article for the first time last night. As such, I am keeping it on my watch list as something to contribute to, as to make it more of an encyclopedic entry. I only hope that others will help this article rise to greatness. --vi 01:21, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am one of the original contributers to this page, and being my first page on wikipedia, I have been going through a learning curve. What I don't understand is why this page has been altered to remove the comments from Supernova. I just looked at Magni's page because the contributer to that page liked my format for posting comments, and decided to do the same on Magni's page. The Supernova comments are still on that page. What gives? --TxPreacher 19:04, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hi TxPreacher, feel free to reencorperate those comments as you see fit. I don't recall seeing them on the page when I first started watching this page. But rememeber, just because Magni is another contestant, Dilana's page does not have to mirror image his article. So please keep contributing, don't let anything get you down. Discussing it here is always the best bet. --vi 23:38, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
It says she is currently a contestant on Supernova. What happens when she stops and we have to rewrite the tenses? Do we need to wait until then to rewrite the tenses or can we just say she was a contestant and include a date? RJFJR 16:26, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- We can edit it like every other current event that is taking place, perhaps? Nothing wrong with updating. --vi 19:42, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Rock Star: Supernova progress
editThere is no need for a list of her performances on this article when the show is over, she is a living person, her article on wikipedia changes dramatically as information on her changes. She is no longer in Rock Star, so this list is not needed (you can see the list of performances in the Rock Star: Supernova article). --Kuckzul 23:01, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Contradictions
editIs her last name Van Vüren, Van Vuuren, Smith or Robichaux? Is she Dutch, American or South African? What gives? Iamvered (talk) 21:32, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's very likely she's Afrikaner, but we need verification first, of course. Sposato (talk) 02:15, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Update needed
editSome of the information in this article, particularly regarding the In the Studio section and her new album - which I understand is done and has a label - as well as related information in the Infobox, should be updated to reflect the present. - Melon3531 (talk) 05:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, Melon3531; I'm doing some of the updates, including the label info (I've met the head of her new label a number of times). Scarletsmith (talk) 00:41, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Page is much more up to date now, I've removed the Update template, thanks Scarletsmith and everyone else. --Melon3531 (talk) 02:31, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Appearance On TLC
editWhy is Dilana's appearance on the TLC programme Lottery Changed My Life not listed? She was under contract to a lottery winner who was touted as the Wiccan lottery winner, who signed her to a recording deal. She was fired after apparent unruly behaviour, although the lottery winner/producer cited "creative differences."
Shouldn't scholarly pieces contain all the information about a person, not just that which might appeal to prospective employers? sltnt —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.13.58.155 (talk) 04:52, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
