Canadian coins

edit

Which coin is illustrated at the beginning of the film? Which coin is illustrated at the end of the film? I remember the last coin had a bear. There are very few Canadian coins with bears a couple with polar bears and a couple with grizzly bears, but they are all rather uncommon coins I think, specialty coins for collectors. That's probably the point. ErinHowarth (talk) 18:13, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • The coin at the beginning has an antlered animal on it, which would correspond to our quarter, but I doubt that this child, back then, would have squashed a quarter, so I don't know if that's what was really intended. I remind you that the coin at the end has an image of a bear on the face and a bear's butt sticking his head inside their house on the "tails" side, and this is obviously a joke. I'm personally not aware of any Canadian coins with bears and I'm sure the filmmaker was not referring to any real-life coin, when one considers the whimsical and fantastical tone of the film, overall. Hope this helps. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 19:52, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
