– per MOS:TM / WP:ALLCAPS, disambiguation, and consistency of title format for related topics. The all-caps is not consistently followed in sources, and is not even used consistently in self-published promotional material such as the logo shown at the top of the topic's own website http://www.startv.com/ (at least not in my location). Although it may officially be an acronym, it is clearly not meant to be pronounced by spelling out the letters. Nearly all other affiliated topics have already been moved from "STAR" to "Star" (see Talk:Star Jalsha and the various topics listed in Template:STAR, which I think all have "Star" names except these). Disambiguation is also desirable, as various other topics are listed at the dab pages at Star TV and STAR 1. —BarrelProof (talk) 17:06, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Support revised proposals with capital G In ictu oculi (talk) 23:54, 2 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, except for STAR Utsav. STAR (Greater China) is now Star China Media. Star One was renamed/rebranded as Life OK and Star Life OK, so should be merged with its article. Spshu (talk) 19:27, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • It doesn't sound like you're really opposed to the spirit of what is being suggested. If I understand correctly, you're not opposed to moving STAR (Greater China) but you have a different suggested name for it; you're not opposed to getting rid of the title STAR One, but you have a different suggestion on how to accomplish that, and you're not opposed to moving STAR Utsav as suggested. Are you opposed to moving STAR TV? You didn't comment about that. I would be happy with your suggestion to move STAR (Greater China) to Star China Media. For STAR One, I see no harm in moving it now and potentially merging it later. Renaming is easier than rewriting. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:39, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per MOS:CAPS; none of these things are acronyms, and the capitalization is just "vanity caps", as with "SONY" (Sony). No objection to the variances BarrelProof suggests be applied to the original proposal for greater accuracy.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  23:26, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Star TV (Asian TV networks)Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific – Going to do a massive edit of articles about what was originally known as STAR TV and the channels operated by it, no matter the time it takes.

According to the Companies Registry in Hong Kong, the company was originally registered on 31 August 1990 as Quford Limited. It changed name to Hutchvision Channel Services Limited on 31 January 1991, and then to Satellite Television Asian Region Limited on 4 July 1991. Chinese name was later registered on 21 December 1993 as 衞星電視有限公司. After decades, the company's name was changed to Fox International Channels Asia Pacific Limited (福斯國際電視網有限公司) on 2 September 2014, and then Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific Limited (福斯傳媒有限公司) on 29 February 2016.

Note that, although the company changed its trade name from STAR TV simply to Star in February 2001 (and the original full name was made redundant since then), its legal name was still Satellite Television Asian Region Limited until 2014.

(It is impossible to link to an information from the Companies Registry, so you need to go to https://www.icris.cr.gov.hk/csci/ and look for Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific Limited.) Vandalism

edit

I want to say that DISNEY CHANNELS are not a part of STAR TV, and there is no such thing as a "STAR MAGIC HBO/MAX PACK" package on STAR TV. It was all an act of VANDALISM.

Clean-Up

edit

STAR TV article needs Clean-Up, because things here are not in order and there are some topics that NOT FACTUAL. I'm talking about the "STAR MAGIC HBO MAX KBS Channels" topic, because STAR doesn't have an MOA with HBO Asia and KBS. I know it, because i'm a subscriber of STAR Channel.

Eve215454 13:50, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm particular about the DISNEY CHANNELS, because there are no citation and no SOURCES.

Fair use rationale for Image:Star TV logo.PNG

edit

Image:Star TV logo.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You have telecast 3 programmes on Star News Channel at 2.30 PM, 6.00 PM and 9.00 PM on 07 July 2009 on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the first Indian Soap titled "Hum Log". My wife Joyoshree Arora is among the important caste of the serial. She acted as Bhagwanti, the mother of the children of the family. I wish to request you to confirm to me so that I can collect a copy of the CD/DVD covering the above mentioned programmes for our personal use and record. This is what the original Star TV became, actually.

edit

The original News Corporation's 2009 restructure of Star was only acknowledged in 2011, but STAR TV (Asia) was incorrectly moved to STAR (Greater China), and now the article incorrectly renders Star China Media to be the successor of what was once the mighty pan-Asian satellite broadcaster, when actually Star (TV) became FIC Asia, and later FNG Asia.

For the sake of accuracy, I'll move this article to Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific (current legal name). Later, I'll create Star China Media as a new article. I'll also edit Wikidata entries accordingly. Star TV (Asian TV networks) will be redirected to this article. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 16:16, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
