editShould there be a "Popular Culture" section that mentions the song "Distant Early Warning" by Rush?
- Yes. Also things like the regular seasonal NORAD announcments that DEW stations had picked up an unknown object, apparently a fat man in a red suit and some reindeer, approaching North America.....Skookum1 (talk) 15:44, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Please. What part of a Rush song had a major cultural impact? Did it even make the Top 10? Not every trivial mention deserves inclusion. If you really believe it belongs, demonstrate the significance. Demonstrate the impact, with sources. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 21:19 & 21:23, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- Personally, every time I see a "Popular Culture" section it's usually filled with trivial B.S. that has nothing really to do with the article it's a part of. This one here is no different. Bwmoll3 (talk) 03:37, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- And everytime I see objection to these sections, it enforces the notion that Wikipedia is driven by a mentality of "my little corner of the world is sacred" and "the world is millions, if not billions, of islands unto themselves". RadioKAOS – Talk to me, Billy 23:22, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

editInitially, BarLant consisted of three WV-2 squadrons (VW-11, VW-13 and VW-15), but was later (date?) reduced to two squadrons (VW-11 and VW-13) with support from Airborne Early Warning Training Unit Atlantic (AEWTULANT), Patuxant River, MD.
Initially, BarPac consisted of three WV-2 squadrons (VW-12, VW-14 and VW-16), but was soon consolidated into one large single (largest-ever in USN) squadron (date?) named Airborne Early Warning Barrier Squadron Pacific (AEWBARRONPAC).

Article issues
edit- This is listed as a B-class article supported by 3 projects (notified). The criteria (#1) states:
The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited.
- There is a "citation needed" tags dated July 2012, April 2021, and a section "needs additional citations for verification" dated February 2017. These are issues "not" consistent with the classification.
- There are 14 entries in the "External links" section. While 3 or possible 4 is generally accepted this has grown to become a link parking space that goes against WP:ELPOINTS #3.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Otr500 (talk • contribs) 08:42, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- Not just that, but obvious link spam, as many of them are to the same site that is described in one entry in a distinctly non-npov manner while using a non-notable individual's name. Any of these that add anything should already have been used as references - and the others are blogs. I have trimmed it down to the two official movies. I also downgraded the page to C class across the board, pending additional references being added - or more cruft being trimmed. - NiD.29 (talk) 18:05, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Edit Assistance Requested- Links required
editHello fellow Wikipedians. I haven't done any editing for some time, after my work was deleted for 'lack of notability' (or something like that) by Revision Nazis. Jimmy Wales has also had content deleted, so I guess I'm in good company. Anyways, I couldn't remember how to add links to other Wiki content, so if someone can assist, that would be great. References used included BING A.I. and https://lswilson.dewlineadventures.com/ which I corroborated with my own personal experience (which, I know, is considered worthless on Wiki). - You can't cite AI or use AI generated text. You can't cite personal anecdotes that are not verifiable. Use something published that also has an editor, not self-published. Sounds like you already know this, but use WP:RS and WP:cite. --Dual Freq (talk) 15:14, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
- Wish my Father was alive; he worked on the DEW Line while in the Royal Canadian Navy. All his photos are with another family member. 216.154.12.248 (talk) 03:11, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
