Trivia: Nintendo 64 (ad) in Donkey Kong 3
editIf you go to Wrinkly's Save Cave, you can see he is playing what looks like an N64 console. --Tatsh (talk) 19:25, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
K3
editAre we sure the area known as K3 is a reference to the mountain K3? I think it is much more likely to be a play off the second tallest mountain, K2. It just seems a more likely play of words, rather than exactly copy the name of an obscure mountain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.175.211.39 (talk) 03:22, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
That sounds more likely, plus I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the NOM review as well. Darrek Attilla (talk) 16:34, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Screen shot
editA screen shot of the gempaly would be nice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jernqvist (talk • contribs) 16:52, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
In the instruction manual there is a picture of the Brothers Bear, and it looked like one of them was smoking a cigar. Is this true?
JAPANESE TEXT
editHAPPEN 2 JAPANESE TEXT THAT WENT ALONG WITH ENGLISH TITLE ON MAIN PAGE? I LIKED THAT. IT WAS INFORMATIVE —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.195.132.253 (talk) 07:50, 16 March 2007 (UTC).
No need to swear, simple "What happened" would do. If you don't like it, open an older page, copy the text and paste it back! (And I wasn't the one who deleted it either)
Virtual Console Release
editAccording to the Statement Rare released awhile back about the status of it's games on the Virtual Console, it said "Beyond the DKC games we don’t have anything in the pipeline at the moment". Doesn't this mean it will be released on the Virtual Console? VCGames 17:53, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Animals
editShouldn't it be mentioned that they don't actually ride the animals as with the previous games, but (from what I recall while playing the game) actually turn into them? 67.142.130.31 (talk) 10:20, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
This is incorrect. Sometimes you turn into them, but sometimes you still ride them. Mansize (talk) 11:40, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- You're thinking of DKC2. In DKC3, it's always a barrel change. In DKC1, it was always a crate, in DKC2, it can be either. Digifiend (talk) 10:32, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Nope, it only happens 2 or 3 times but there ARE some animal crates. I always thought it a bit odd that in DKC 2, getting a Squawks barrel or crate effectively did the same thing , because when he was carrying you, getting hit resulted in losing a Kong as opposed to him 'running off'. 82.32.11.95 (talk) 22:07, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- ...I'm unsure if you've ever even played the game, but in the very first level of DKC3, you ride an animal. The first transformation happens on the fifth level (interestingly with the same animal, Ellie). Salvidrim! 22:14, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Donkey Kong Country 4?
editSomeone put in this article saying that there were rumors about a game being called Donkey Kong Country 4, even though it wasn't really confirmed. We know that Donkey Kong 64 is the direct sequel to Donkey Kong Country 3, and that DK64 was codenamed Donkey Kong Country 64. --PJ Pete 02:01, 24 May 2009
Reception Section
editShouldn't this section be before the GBA Re-Release section? Otherwise it makes it sound like the reception is for the GBA version of the game. 98.202.38.225 (talk) 05:53, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

- Seems this is my last chance if I want to review one of the original DK Country SNES games! FunkMonk (talk) 22:22, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- The other two articles have quite a bit of text about the development of the music and audio, not many details here?
- I'm afraid that there was literally nothing available on development for this game nor its predecessor. All of the retrospective interviews focused on the first game, and I've had to make do with what I have... 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "Many of the gameplay elements from previous games" I'd add "previous games in the series", seems a bit vague now.
- "may also pick one another other up" Seems something's wrong here...
- Rephrased to "each other" JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Though it is obvious when knowing the previous games, it seems you should mention that you can switch between the two characters at will during a level...
- Good point! Added. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "The game features "Animal Friends", which returns from its predecessors." Return, plural?
- Removed plural JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "Squaks the parrot" Squawks?
- Good catch, fixed. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "one such kind of item is" I think "kind of" is redundant here.
- Removed JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Various characters are only linked at their second occurrence in the article body.
- Fixed. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- There are also some duplinks.
- I should have them removed. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "Pre-rendered images are modelled as 3D objects and then transformed into 2D sprites" Seems this is a bit off, it would rather be pre-rendered 3D animation frames/images that are transformed into 2D sprites.
- Good point; corrected to 3D images. This was my fault. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Being an animator myself, I think this could be shuffled a bit more... It now says "Pre-rendered images are modelled as 3D images", but the order is off here, as the only modelling involved is for the 3D models that are later animated. Then this animation is rendered into images (the "pre-rendered" images), that are turned into 2D sprites... So I'd say "Pre-rendered 3D animations are turned into 2D sprites" or some such. But what does the source say? FunkMonk (talk) 15:55, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- The source says "everything was modeled in 3D before being transformed into 2D sprites and background layers". I don't think the reviewer was well versed in the way this game was created, so I think I'll go with the "Pre-rendered 3D animations are turned into 2D sprites" suggestion. I myself am not well versed in how the process is done. If I recall correctly I think the designed each frame of a sprite in 3D, and then converted it into a 2D image that could fit on the SNES, therefore giving it an illusion of advanced graphics. JAGUAR 16:32, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide,[9] with 1.7 million copies sold in Japan and 1.12 million copies sold in the United States.[29][30]" Some of this is already mentioned in the former section, shouldn't it be moved there?
- Moved to the previous section. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "of the 1994's Donkey Kong Country" Why the genitive s?
- Removed. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "not as "legendary" enough as it was" Seems "enough" doesn't fit well here.
- Removed. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "for replacing all of the original music." Replaced with what?
- With newer GBA music; elaborated. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Shouldn't release dates be mentioned under release?
- Added. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- "It was also re-released for the Game Boy Advance in 2005. The game was made available to download on the Wii's Virtual Console service in 2007, as well as for the Wii U's Virtual Console in 2014." Shouldn't this info also be under release?
- Added. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
@FunkMonk: thanks for the review! I've addressed everything. It's unfortunate that there is literally nothing on development for this one, as I would have definitely mentioned it. Development sections are my favourite to write. I think Donkey Kong 64 is next, and I assume that has a lot more on development than this one! Please let me know if you have anything else. JAGUAR 15:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Looks good, I have a little more nitpicking on the rendering issue... FunkMonk (talk) 15:55, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk: I think I've cleared up the rendering issue by rephrasing it to your suggestion. The reviewer was a bit off, so I hope I've made it clearer? JAGUAR 16:32, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- With the 3D stuff done, I will now pass this. Perhaps check if the other DK Country articles could be fixed in that regard? FunkMonk (talk) 16:59, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review! I've fixed the 3D issue in its predecessor. JAGUAR 18:22, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

Japanese text in lead
editIs there a reason there is Japanese text in the lead? It's not a Japanese produced game, so why is it included? Andrzejbanas (talk) 22:16, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- Removed from lead per WP:VG/NONENG. Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:54, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
