Fair use rationale for Image:Drem-multimedia-logo.gif
editImage:Drem-multimedia-logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Cleaned up external links
editI cleaned up the external links section: I removed spam, a members only site, and unofficial/fan sites, wikis, and forums. Because of this I removed the {{Cleanup-spam}} tag. Gh5046 (talk) 01:05, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
VU+ should not be mentioned as a Dreambox
editI don't think that the VU+ box should be mentioned at the Dreambox article since it is none, it's a receiver by a different company and should not be mixed up with dreamboxes. Enigma2 runs on many receivers and none are mentioned here (and should not be either).
- I agree to the entry above and edited the article arcondingly. If someone thinks, that every enigma2 receiver should be mentionend in wiki, then he might create a enigma2 article or similar! But this has nothing to do with dreamboxes.78.43.35.153 (talk) 17:05, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Vu+Duo readded
editI do agree that Vu+Duo is not at Dreambox, but I does use Enigma2, and is the box that is most similar to a dreambox, so its easy to port image too it. Vu+Duo are added with a comment that it's not a dreambox. Jotne (talk) 08:45, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- This Page is called "Dreambox" not "Enigma2". There is NO reason why VU+ should be mentioned here, you could create a "VU+" Page though. --85.181.1.36 (talk) 17:35, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- It is marked a non-Dreambox, and is added to compare with other. Also many has added extra info to Vu+ section after it was added. I have talked to other user and they do agree that it is no problem to keep it there. Dream-Elite do list it side by side with the other DM too. Jotne (talk) 20:20, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
VU+Duo removed from the chart
editVU+ Duo IS NOT A Dreambox. Even if the tuner uses the same OS, it does not belong in a Dreambox comparison chart. Nor does a Mercedes in a BMW chart even if both use Diesel engines. The chart is a Dreambox chart not an enigma 2 chart. --Digsat (talk) 21:37, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
This part has been here for a long time and it is clearly mention that it is not a dreambox and added for easy comparison.--Jotne (talk) 17:06, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
This is about dreambox and not about Compareing enigma2 boxe - humsat — Preceding unsigned comment added by Humsat (talk • contribs) 17:53, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I did not add this, just updated article. Contribute and not delete information.--Jotne (talk) 17:58, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Many people has removed this information before and you have readded the VU+ every time even if a majority of the contributors do not want this information here. Just refer to the VU+ page. This is the Dreambox page having facts and information about set-top boxes from Dream Multimedia GmbH. Having another box in the comparison table only leads to misunderstandings. Please respect the opinions of others. --Akseln (talk) 18:12, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Strange that only new user that have not contributed any to wiki removed information. And all user are from Digsat.net.--Jotne (talk) 18:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Removed non Dreambox from comparison chart, it's not a dreambox and does not belong there. Information being there for a long time does not make VU+Duo a Dreambox. --Digsat (talk) 20:24, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Since there are sveral people that do like to have it there, and it does not decrease quality of article I will readd it until some complain to wikipedia, and they do decide that it should not be there.--Jotne (talk) 20:38, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Destroying the history log like this is not needed. Do follow the rule. If some do not agree, do report it the correct way. --Jotne (talk) 21:04, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
A complaint has been sendt to wikipedia about this wrong info being re added by the user jotne over and over again.--Digsat (talk) 21:21, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
To focus on the facts. A lot of pages in Wikipedia describes companies and their products. Many of these pages list a history of that company´s products so that readers may learn about past and present products from that company. This is also true regarding the Dreambox page. Any products from other companies presented on another company´s page compromises this information and may mislead the readers. How should this alien information be treated in the future when new products are released? Should a company be allowed to add their products to a competitors page on Wikipedia for comparison? There are other sites on the Internet that provides product comparison charts. This should not be done in Wikipedia. Please keep this company page clean from other products. --Akseln (talk) 21:40, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Stop removing page and wait for wiki to settle.--Jotne (talk) 21:54, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Wiki will not decide, therefore the non dreambox model have been removed from chart once again. You can add a line or two in the bottom of this article where you can mention VU+Duo as a competitor to dreambox but not i the the model chart. The chart should be reserved for Dream Multimedia brands only. Likewise in the VU+ chart in this page. The current Dreambox models does not belong there and should not be added as the chart is reserved for VU+ brand only. Does Jotne agree in this? If not, would it be ok for us to add a model or five in the VU page? --Digsat (talk) 01:52, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
This article will stay like this. I have contribute alot to it, Digsat has not. Deleting my user and block me from www.digsat.net is just childish to do. Doing so, makes me even more sure that it stay like this. I have done nothing wrong to digsat--Jotne (talk) 07:46, 29 December 2010 (UTC).
Removing jotne from digsat is irrelevant on this pages and will not be answered or commented any further. But the last answer from jotne clearly show a childish behavior and maybe a thing for you to think about.--Digsat (talk) 08:29, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
It is not irrelevant, I was removed after Digsat started to edit this thread. I did not pull Digsat.net into this, it was you that did it. This just show how Digsat.net handles it users. I told you how to handle this and Digsat did not respect the rules of Wikipedia. PS I did not start this, I have been here long. --Jotne (talk) 09:11, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

- I have simple question. Is Vu+ a Dreambox? Fainites barleyscribs 19:46, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- The device manufacturer's website supplies an unambiguous overview of all current Dreambox models at http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/products
- As the Vu+ is not listed there, it is apparently not a Dreambox product. 79.214.88.126 (talk) 22:56, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- It appears from the above discussion that even the editor that keeps adding the VU+ to the table of Dreamboxes agrees it is not actually a Dreambox. Is that right? In which case - end of argument? Fainites barleyscribs 23:27, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

- The main question in this dispute is: "Is it ok to add other products to a company product listing in wikipedia for comparison purposes?". I think not. Who should determine which products are relevant to add for comparison? At what point in time are the other products no longer relevant? Mixing a company product listing with other products will only lead to misunderstandings and confusion. Competitors may add their products for marketing reasons. There are other places on the web that provide this type of comparison service. It should not be in Wikipedia which in nature should nurture facts only. If there are products that are similar, this may be added as a comment with a link. --Akseln (talk) 12:24, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

- This has nothing to do with Germany, Digsat, who has been writing most on Wikipedia, who came to Wikipedia first etc. The question is if VU+ is a Dreambox. I guess all agree it is not. Then the question is if another brand should be included in the main content of an article about Dreambox. I can't understand that anyone really mean this should be included. If you want to compare different linux set-top boxes create a new article and stop destroying this one! HazeP (talk) 18:23, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- FYI; in the beginning of September in 2011 Dream Multimedia issued an temporary injunction against the Satco Europe GmbH company for using their "Enigma2" name in an advertising flyer to promote the Linux operating system installed on their Vu+ set-top-boxes, as "Enigma2" is a registered trademark name of Dream Multimedia GmbH.[1] I think that settles it that any Vu+ device with Enigma2 firmware should be classified in this article as a Dreambox clone, thus Vu+ should only be mentioned in this article under the clones section. IMHO better would maybe be to create a seperate article for Enigma2 here on wikipedia and there list all devices uses it, clones or not. 164.4.17.32 (talk) 11:09, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Linkspam
editI've re-removed the section "Alternative firmware" per WP:ELNO and WP:NOT#REPOSITORY. It had been restored by Jotne (talk · contribs), but he didn't address any of the removal reasons in the restoration.
Per WP:NOT#REPOSITORY, Wikipedia is not a "collections of external links or Internet directories". Wikipedia does not exist to be a link farm. This is further reinforced by WP:EL, "External links should not normally be used in the body of an article", as well as WP:ELNO #4 and #14.
If anyone disagrees, please explain why you feel these policies and guidelines don't apply and try to reach consensus - or bring it up at the external links noticeboard if you want a broader discussion on interpretation of site policies and guidelines in relation to these specific links. --- Barek (talk) - 16:04, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- That section does not belong here, but for a different reason. Softcams are illegal due to licensing/royalties issues. It should be okay to discuss the fact that they exist, as we are not trying to pretend the software world is all bunnies and sunshine, but a list that names almost every one of them has no further purpose apart from helping readers locate illegal content, which is outside the scope of Wikipedia. If someone wants to find them, they can look on Google or various underground forums or whatever - but not here. 77.220.100.185 (talk) 23:37, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
