editDuarte Barbosa's descriptions in the early pages of his book immediately connects to the then social situation of eastern Mozambique and adjoining islands. The article needs a clear mention of this fact. --ViswaPrabha വിശ്വപ്രഭ (talk) 22:27, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
"João Serrão was brought by natives who wanted to exchange him for weapons, but was left behind, being saved only the pilot João Carvalho." This sentence is hard to understand. Also, thewhole episode should be summarized better in Magellan's own article - although already after his death, it is important for the readers to understand the fate of the expedition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.131.125.77 (talk) 19:58, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Correct historical names
editPlease caution the clown who wrote the article to change the place names to the historically known forms of their names. Kozhikode was known as Calicut, Kannar as Cannanore &c. in the contemporary historical records of those times. Wikipeida is try to promote the local linguistic aspirations of alocal vernacular social leadership in these low-class areas by allowing such naming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:204:D104:A8C8:D9BC:7E1B:9240:64CF (talk) 08:08, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
