editI removed the section below, as it is both redundant (it's already mentioned in the opening paragraphs that a lot of money was spent on converting from 16 to 35 mm film) and smacks of someone trying to add "balance" where it's not needed:
Budget
editRodriguez' detractors are critical of his statement that El Mariachi was made for $7,000. While that was indeed the budget for the film when it was produced for the Mexican direct to video market, critics point out that when the film was turned into a theatrical-release film, it had to be converted to 35mm with subtitles added and sound remixed, greatly increasing its production cost.
Sources
editWhere is the source for this statement? "inspiring a new wave of young producers to film low-budget movies such as Clerks. and The Blair Witch Project." I've personally never heard Kevin Smith mention Rodriguez as the source of his inspiration to Clerks. Codus 18:41, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- El Mariachi is the first in a trilogy that also includes Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico
I just removed this, since its obviously stated in the first paragraph and trivia sections are being integrated these days anyways. ObsidianOps 20:28, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
