Height of La Danta?

edit

172 m can't be true. If that's what it says in that National Geographic movie (what kind of source is that anyway?), they got it wrong. Richard D. Hansen says in this 2007 talk @55m20s that it's 72 m high and that it is the largest pyramid in volume, unless it was built on a hill, which isn't clear yet.--87.162.46.197 (talk) 22:05, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Robert Sharer gives 70m high in The Ancient Maya, 6th ed, p253. I'll fix this in the article. Simon Burchell (talk) 20:39, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

El Mirador

edit

We also have a El Mirador cave in Spain that is also an archaeology site. [1]

Neutrality and emotive language

edit

I have added the neutrality tag based on various excessive embellishments and emotive language - for example "one of the most massive ancient structures in the world"; "this tremendous rise in human population "; "Mcreated many astonishingly beautiful artifacts"; " cut down every available green tree in the area"; Garyvines (talk) 00:16, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The causeways were known in ancient times as sacbeob

edit

It's highly unlikely that the Inhabitants of el Mirador spoke Yucatec Maya, therefore their causeways could have had a different name than Sacbeob (plural of Sac Be) in Yucatec Maya. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soparamens (talkcontribs) 17:25, 4 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've rephrased that to take out the reference to "referred to in ancient times as". I don't think we actually know what they called their roads in ancient times... And certainly not in the Preclassic. Simon Burchell (talk) 10:21, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
