Age and date incongruence

edit

The article states that the 34-year-old captain had been with Emirates since March 2001. That means that he was with Emirates since he was 12? Surely that can't be true SailingTundra (talk) 20:20, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps he worked his way up from cabin boy? Things may work differently there. Specifically the accident report states that "The Commander joined the Operator’s cadet program in March 2001 and on receiving his license, commenced his operational flying career in 2004 as a copilot on the Airbus A330 aircraft." The accident occurred on 3 August 2016. That means he was 34 in 2016. So if you do the math, he would be 19 when he joined Emirates not 12. CreatorOfMinecraftHerobrine (talk) 03:31, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

The lead section has 12 references. But none of the claims there are contentious or likely to be disputed. In line with WP:LEADCITE, there's no need for any of those sources to appear there? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
