Removal of Links to Separate Entity
Though it is understandably confused, this WP is titled and meant to be about Emotiv Systems. Emotiv Systems has been dormant since 2010. Emotiv, Inc. is an independent and separate business and should not be linked to as the Official Page or any otherwise.
However, Emotiv.com does utilize some hardware created by Emotiv Systems, and is referenced on this page of their web site http://www.emotiv.com/epoc.php Lauralang (talk) 00:30, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
oy
my attention was caught by the posting at COIN. this whole article was a terrible bit of WP:PROMO and one big violation of WP:VERIFY. removed bad sources and unsourced content. we have respectable but modest stub now. Jytdog (talk) 22:31, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
company/companies story
Lauralang can you please explain more of what you wrote here about emotive inc and emotive systems being different companies, with some past tense mixed in there? Is there some corporate dispute here or is one company the successor of the other... pls explain. Also please explain your relationship to either or both! Thanks Jytdog (talk) 22:39, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- oh i see your post above, lauralang. can you please explain your relationship with either or both companies and tell a bit more of the story, if you know it? thx. Jytdog (talk) 23:14, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
Correction of Title
Geoff Mackellar who was Emotiv System's Research Manager and never the CTO. Source: Tan Le Lauralang (talk) 17:29, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- a personal conversation with Tan Le is not a reliable source in Wiikipedia - everything here must be verifiable. Jytdog (talk) 23:15, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
Removal of URL and reference to illegal usage
The "reverse-engineered" SDK reference and link to Emotikit is in direct violation of six US patents and copyright. It was created by hacking and repackaging protected proprietary information. Lauralang (talk) 17:18, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- I just realized after posting to your talk page about possible conflict of interest, that the mention of censoring was also removed in a revision of this article. It is normal for censors to want to remove mention of the fact that censoring is happening. Sounds like we need a mod in here. 73.3.211.0 (talk) 18:40, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- See especially: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Emotiv_Systems&diff=629127371&oldid=629127148

- That doesn't seem unreasonable: the source appears to be a business rival of Emotiv recounting his personal experience of announcing a product on their forums and having that single post deleted, yet the Wikipedia edit somehow inflated this to "rapidly censors any threads containing comments not favorable to their product or critical of their customer service".
- A business rival having one forum post deleted doesn't seem like something that belongs in the article, particularly if the only source is a WP:NEWSPRIMARY interview with that rival himself. --McGeddon (talk) 19:36, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks for investigating this for me! I wasn't sure what was going on so asked for expert help. 73.3.211.0 (talk) 00:28, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
