Squad update

edit

If anyone has the desire to update the squad tonight, to reflect the updated stats, may I suggest the use of this format:

No. Pos. Player Date of birth (age) Caps Goals Club

1GK Ben Alnwick (1987-01-01) January 1, 1987 (age 37) 0 0   Tottenham Hotspur
1GK Scott Carson (1985-09-03) September 3, 1985 (age 39) 25 0   Liverpool
1GK Joe Hart (1987-04-19) April 19, 1987 (age 37) 2 0   Manchester City

I would carry this out tonight, but I don't really have the time. I'll probably do it tomorrow if no-one else has.  Sʟυмgυм • т  c  21:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

European Under-21 Football Championship 2007 Squad

edit

I have updated the 'retired' players' stats (in their own articles) to reflect the end of their U21 careers. Now I wonder how long we should leave the squad on. Since the squad is duplicated at 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship squads, albeit without the additional stats for apps/goals during the Championship, I would recommend removal, especially as we have had the first fixture since then. I thought I should mention it here before being bold. Any other thoughts?  slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 22:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Current and recent players vs Current Under-21 Squad

edit

There used to be just 'Current and recent players', which is still in its original form. Later there was added 'Current Under-21 Squad' which showed the most recent squad...up until a few days ago when User:Leaveitoutlove started adding other players from the 'Current and recent players', as well as additional information on their last appearance. For some reason we also have two 6s, two 9s, two 10s and two 11s, which is unusual for any squad.

So I propose to utilise the data in one combined and sortable custom-table.

Current Squad Player Position Date of birth and age Caps Goals Club Last cap
11 Theo Walcott FW March 16, 1989 (35) 15 6 Arsenal May 15, 2008 v Wales
No call James Milner MF January 4, 1986 (38) 35 6 Newcastle United February 5, 2008 v Republic of Ireland
  • Sorting by birthdate eliminates the need for the 'Year of Birth' column approach of the 'Current and recent players'
  • Italics used for those with senior caps.
  • The first column "Current Squad" can be used to identify what shirt number they wore in the last game, or whether they weren't called or missed out through injury. We'd need to decide upon the terminology used.
  • The only information lost will be clubnation, which can be added if required, but since they're all England, it's a bit irrelevant at the moment.

Flags

edit

You shouldn't use the European Union flag for UEFA competitions it should be UEFA flag or an alternative. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.22.28.226 (talk) 13:40, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Jack Wilshere

edit

Has been changed to playing for Bolton to reflect the format of the several Chelsea players who are out on loan in the squad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.193.193.201 (talk) 21:40, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of Jack Wilshere, does he really still need to be under "Recent Callups"? He hasn't been since 2011. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.1.239.231 (talk) 12:49, 11 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

As it says, "recent call-ups" contains players who "have also been called up to the England under-21 squad and remain eligible". Wilshere will remain eligible until next summer's under-21 Euros, so he'll come off the page after that. Clicriffhard (talk) 15:37, 11 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
