Suggestions

edit

While this article presents interesting strategies for supporting English language learners, there are certain areas that could be improved. First of all, as the warning banner indicates, this article is presented in such a way that reflects the opinions of the writer as opposed to the views and research of professionals. The use of the word 'unfortunately' and the phrase 'should be' are two examples of opinionated writing. These statements incorporate bias into the article and remove any neutrality from the piece by indicating how the writer feels about the issue. There are also several instances of unsourced opinions such as the four factors in ELL student achievement. I believe these factors should be verified and cited appropriately. In addition, there are several sentences referencing 'some teachers.' These statements are too general and should be replaced with cited factual information. Also, the lead section presents teacher's attitude as one of the factors in student achievement, yet this section is missing from the sub-heading. By adding this information and improving grammatical issues including punctuation ("...they are intertwined with each other. or the English TESOL Standard 3a states..."), spelling ("In a five week study by Huang, researched showed...") and consistent use of the term "English-language learners" throughout the piece, this article could be a lot more comprehensive. --Jessicabarclay (talk) 05:40, 19 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Multiple issues box

edit

I removed the multiple issues box. Although the article still has room for improvement, the improvements from recent editors lack of detail in the box warranted its removal. Lndmayg (talk) 15:51, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
