The Curse of the Morning Musume Fans?

edit

"This comment was viewed as a criticism on Morning Musume and triggered a waves of criticism on Eriko. She has not succeeded selling over 50,000 copies of her CDs ever since." It seems unlikely to me that her criticism of Morning Musume caused her low record sales.

The < 50k CD sales was apparently reactionary and transient, which can happen in younger pop music performers and audiences. Her subsequent album "My Place" sold well over 50,000 units. There were several technical errors in the original article, as you pointed out. I resolved some of them, including the "ever since" time-infinitive.

Sorry, but I removed that whole sentence off that paragraph, as it does not really reflect good on her and also does seem to damage her reputation.

Grammatical/Structural improvements

edit

I improved the grammar of this article after bumping into several Eriko Imai/elly videos over on YouTube. (That's how I came to this article in the first place, and did so just today (8 Sep 2007).) I corrected the structure and improved the English usage of the article, which is mostly what I do on Wikipedia. (Most of the time, my chosen role in Wikipedia is more of a roving see-bug-fix-bug technician than an author. I'm very good with English and seek to correct lexical and conceptual mistakes as I happen upon them.)

Biographical Tone

edit

The original article, also cached on Google, seemed to be kinda down about Eriko. My structural improvements softened the negativity ("career downfall" --> "declining point" for example) and attempted to improved objectivity as per biographical guidelines. Personally, I found Eriko's work enjoyable and talented, and felt the tone of the previous authors seemed unfair to my empathetic senses and experience with her work on YouTube. Eriko is a real human being with a fairly recent family (her husband Shogo and their son Raimu, who's going to be three years old in a few weeks) who is working hard to sustain her career among fickle and broadly served clientelle. The article must remember this reality among the dates and sales figures and maintain an objectivity about Eriko, Shogo, Raimu and their friends (among them Hiroko Shimabukuro (stage name "hiro"), Hikaru Utada, and similar personal friends and industrial contemporaries). This should never sound like People magazine or a gossipy tabloid--all of these people are as human and extentially finite in life as you are. As I did fact-checking verifications (mostly via Google/YouTube (GooTube!)) during the structural work, I grew to understand her a little better. I've never met this woman, but even in a few hours after bumping into her work on a YouTube post-video link, I saw a basic human pattern between the articles and between the lines I found coherent, understandable, and likable.

The Page needs some work

edit

This page needs some work. Because of her roll in Speed (band), she's quite well known in Asia. Maybe that's why there are tons of IP Edits with poor English & formats. For example, there are 2 "Personal Sections", and the "2001, 2002, 2003..." System is really hard to follow. I want to see if there are other people who would like to update/tidy some information. Because I don't know much about her, so I can't help much in terms of the content. I will return in a few days to fix the formating of the page. TheAsianGURU (talk) 05:09, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and fixed the format & a little part of the grammar. Much work is still needed. TheAsianGURU (talk) 17:14, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
