Complete and utter BS

edit

As the article stands, its complete and utter BS. Originated in Sydney? Wrong, Try western Suburbs of Melbourne in the early 90s possibly even before.

The name originates from the word Asia? Wrong again, even the very first reference states the real origin of the word. We used it in the 90s in much the way the 420 term came about. Trying to hide out pot smoking from our parents and teachers.

The other 2 references in the article are fake and have nothing to do with "Eshay" at all. Looking back at old versions there are some much better written versions with better, real sources with the older versions from 2020 being the most accurate ones.

Needs to be reverted and locked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.150.37.121 (talk) 14:29, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Article is rubbish

edit

I think as it currently stands, it'd be better to delete all or most of this article, as it has little information value, and most of it is someone's badly written, unsourced opinions.

Casual racism

edit

Feel like this article contains quite a bit of casual racism & possible classist bias and needs a rewrite. AConfusedVarmint (talk) 14:41, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree, the problems go beyond just what you mentioned. Long-time Wikipedia reader here, I've never edited Wikipedia articles before but I felt this article was so atrociously done that I needed to contribute. I'll have a crack at it over the coming weeks, might use the Chav[1] article (despite its own issues) as a reference for style/content. SugmaMale (talk) 07:18, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

The skater brands and other activities unique to your own cities are not “adlay” in general

edit

@stolendank “adlay” culture was solely based on money making until a fascination for racing and dance music came during the defqon era in the early mid 2000s Darkestlandapart (talk) 11:25, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

There has been some major Edits to this page that appear to have ruined its integrity?

Hi everyone reading!

I don't want to come off within the wrong way here, but this article was once a perfect edition to the quality of Wikipedia and meaning behind the Eshay. In other words, whoever built this article from the ground up did a fabulous job.

Up until this date: 23:44, 24 January 2021 The article was well written and made perfect sense to me.

I live in Australia and lived right the way through this era and culture.

What I see with this article after the due date being: 23:44, 24 January 2021 is a heap of confusing writings.

It is like somebody is trying to add in a UK Based Opinion on the Word Eshays?

For those who don't understand the "Eshays" Word, it was strictly created in Sydney Australia.

I want to keep this article based on the Title of the project which is Eshay (Also known as Adlay)

I have a screenshot below that describes the section that I find to be messing with the article:

RESPONSE FROM A MAJOR EDITOR DARKUNIVERSE121:

I live in Inner City Sydney where the culture has originated from, and have first hand experience on a subculture from a young age, from family, to environment and experiences, not just from music, but from the very root of the culture,

I have family members who have been through the System with a verified name, who have been sporting this look and speaking the language while it was still looked down upon even by Urban Australian culture, and there is way more Original decade old information to it.

For those who don't understand, that paragraph had a defining purpose

Lad is an English word, but wasn't taken from the UKs chav culture, let alone anything street related

Kentucky Fried Chicken

edit

Why is KFC linked in the article? There is no reference in the article itself, the KFC article does not contain the word "eshay". That link should be removed or explained. 145.236.61.157 (talk) 10:35, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
