"Edison had a buzzer contrivance rigged up, the waves being suffiecent to cause small sparks between the ends of graphite pencils in a darkened box". Hermann von Helmholtz was documented to be in attendance at the exposition. Helmholtz was a mentor to Heinrich Hertz and later suggested to Hertz to demonstrate Maxwell's electrmagnetic theory of light. An article in Popular Science dated August 1919 by Darling states the event. Could this witnessed demonstration of Edison's, spark the later demonstration and alleged discovery of the Hertzian "Radio" waves in 1886?
