The result of the move request was: Moved to Faiyaz Khan (tabla player) — Amakuru (talk) 13:52, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
Faiyyaz Khan → Faiyaz Khan – Significantly more common spelling (only one y) Nousernameworkstohellwiththat (talk) 13:06, 5 June 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Steel1943 (talk) 17:21, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
Tentative support. Iwould prefer to see the nom present more (some!) evidence, but a Google search suggests that this is accurate: "Faiyaz Khan" -wikipedia (127,000 results) vs "Faiyyaz Khan" -wikipedia (13,400 results) vs "Fiyaz Khan" -wikipedia (6,120 results). PC78 (talk) 11:26, 6 June 2019 (UTC)- Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 00:30, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Faiyaz Khan is an article about a different subject. Are we planning on moving that as well? As the move request stands at the present time, it is malformed since it does not consider what to do with the article currently at Faiyaz Khan.

- Pass. I don't think I realised when I commented above so those Google search results probably won't be useful. Note that this article was previously at Fiyaz Khan until it was moved back in February. Perhaps the alternate spellings apply to both men? In terms of pageviews it is the other man (the classical vocalist) who appears to be primary, so maybe disambiguate this one? PC78 (talk) 22:43, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- I've left a note at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics. I think we may need some more input from knowledgeable users. PC78 (talk) 22:49, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

- Move to Faiyaz Khan (tabla player). Reasoning:
- Firstly Faiyaz Khan is overwhelmingly the common spelling to the extent that it is perhaps the only acceptable spelling. See Obituary in Indian Express, Sangeet Natak Akademi site (the Indian government's premier performing arts institute), Hindu article on Khan's student, Zee News article, biographical DVD issued by another premier national institute, etc. The only non-circular source I found using the 'Faiyyaz Khan' spelling is this non-RS blog; and I didn't find any non-circular source using the 'Fiyaz Khan' spelling, which is what this article was named prior to Feb 2019.
- I won't list the sources, but I confirmed that the name of the vocalist with article currently at Faiyaz Khan is also correctly spelled as 'Faiyaz Khan'. Also, it appears (not certain of this part) that the vocalist may be the more prominent of the two musicians. Hence suggest adding the parenthetical qualifier for the tabla player.

- I'd be happy with that. PC78 (talk) 11:50, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
