Who uses the term "fast tram" in English?

edit

The name of this article, fast tram, is a term that is not commonly used in English. I read many rail-transport publications, and none of them uses this term. Even if you search in Google, pretty much the only "hits" that are actually about trams are cases where the "found" page's contents were a translation from another language (and the translator did not understand that the correct translation into English was "light rail", not "fast tram"). No professional magazines writing in English use the term "fast tram", so I believe it is just the interpretation by someone whose primary language is not English. This two-sentence article should be folded into the Light rail article. If other editors insist on keeping it as its own article, they must add a lot of text, including references to reliable sources that use the term fast tram in English, and also text detailing the (supposed) differences between "light rail" and "fast tram" (with references). I am changing the interwiki links for Italian and some other languages back to linking to light rail, rather than linking here, for the reasons explained. I'd never previously heard of the expression either, and I agree that this article should be merged into Light rail. I linked some articles to it only because of the wikilink from it:Metrotranvia, which I note you have now modified. Bahnfrend (talk) 11:23, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Possibly... "Fast tram" is terminology that is used in (non-English-speaking) Europe. It probably doesn't warrant its own article on English-language Wikipedia. But it probably does mention some sort of mention somewhere, where the specifics of the term can be defined (in English)... --IJBall (talk) 20:39, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
