editWikipedia bio on Fernando Fischmann privacy concerns
editDear Help Desk
I´m contacting you on behalf of Mr. Fernando Fischmann in relation to the disclosure of private information on him in a Wikipedia article about him located in the following link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Fischmann.
I understand that Wikipedia has an editorial policy on biographic articles on living persons that, in our oppinion, has not been followed on this ocassion.
Mr. Fischmann is not a public figure and is known only due to the fact that he is the founder of Crystal Lagoons, however the article contains personal information on Mr. Fischmann's life, family, and his full name that are totally irrelevant and off topic to his only source of notability, his professional work.
Mr. Fischmann is requesting that, to protect his privacy, his personal information, including full name, family information on his grandparents, parents, sister and other sensible information, such as the one related to his etnicity and the fact he comes from a family of inmigrants, be removed from the article.
We´ll be thankfull for a favorable response and will be waiting for your feedback.
Best regards,
Ignacio Rivera — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quorumcomunicaciones (talk • contribs) 16:16, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
- The Biographies of living people noticeboard is where you should bring this up. This Help Desk is more for technical help. InedibleHulk (talk) 17:45, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

- My impression is that the lagoons, with the processes for maintaining them, may be notable; but Mr. Fischmann himself is probably not. Maybe the article could be renamed to "Crystal Lagoons", and rearranged, omitting the details about Mr. Fischmann's family? Maproom (talk) 21:20, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
- Quorumcomunicaciones suggests that the person may be unnotable even if the company is. This is someone who started a company, Crystal Lagoon, to produce something called by the same name. Seems to me yes, the article should move and the biographical information be diminished. Jim.henderson (talk) 00:37, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- The person is clearly the subject of some of the press coverage; the company is merely his vehicle. He is an inventor as well as a developer, and seems to me to be more notable than his company. I don't care if his press flacks feel he has overshared in the past about his personal life: the sourcing looks pretty darned solid to me. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:46, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- Ah. Vaguely I was remembering wp:one event and think there ought to be something similar for one role, but there isn't, and I'm not enough interested in BLP policy to wrestle that one, so I'm out of this. Good luck, all. Jim.henderson (talk) 22:29, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- The original communication to Help Desk merits a reply. My own view is:
(1) All the information in the article is already in the public domain and has been fully referenced. (2) It is standard encyclopedic practice to include very basic biographical information on notable persons. (3) Given this it would be good to be informed of the date (at least year) and city of birth. This could replace the mention of grandparents. (4) The article makes no statement about "ethnicity". (5) People are welcome to add updates about Mr Fischmann's recent achievements and awards of significance if referenced according to WP's standard practice. --Noyster (talk) 10:10, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
