Yemen/Turkmenistan

edit

Are Yemen and Turkmenistan back in, or was Ludahai's edit by putting them back in a mistake? SportsAddicted | discuss 23:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

From what I read here they are out of the tournament and they're replaced by the two runners-up. The organisation will draw the runners-up into the two groups on saturday morning. SportsAddicted | discuss 23:09, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, he miss the note place above. Never mind, i'll fix it. --Aleenf1 00:01, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I missed the note. I was going by the schedule that was listed in the official website, which hasn't been changed yet. Ludahai 14:12, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

2002 Asian Games

edit

Anybody know who were the medallists? --Howard the Duck 13:17, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Iran,   Japan,   South Korea, according to rsssf. SportsAddicted | discuss 08:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
thanks. So what's the convention here, "South Korea"/"North Korea" or "Korea Republic"/"Korea DPR"? --Howard the Duck 11:25, 27 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I personally don't mind that much. South Korea, or the translation of that is the more common name in my country, but that should not be a reason to call them like that in English, if they should be called different. SportsAddicted | discuss 12:31, 27 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I have been using Korea DPR for North Korea and Korea for South Korea. Ludahai 04:43, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Iran back ?

edit

I added a sentence (with ref) about the FIFA lifted the ban to Iran. But it was reversed somehow. --Manop - TH 16:50, 27 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, is allow to coming back, update already. --Aleenf1 17:39, 27 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, finding out stuff from the official site isn't easy. They still have Jordan playing right now in GroupA on the results page, but quite definitely say they are in Group C on their 26Nov redraw page! --Failsafe 17:26, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Under 23

edit

Is this strictly Under-23? If so, the reference to being just like the Olympics should be stricken for two reasons. 1. The Olympics allows a couple of "overage" players, and 2. it doesn't apply to the women's teams (at least not in the Olympics.) Ludahai 04:46, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is already mentioned that the age limit is for men teams. Same as in Olympics, three overage players are allowed among each squad, and I reckon it's a good idea to add this point to the age limit sentence. Siba 06:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Names in Game Reports

edit

Ok, I know there is room for confusion here. Some countries seem to have the full names of players posted while others only the surname. I believe we need to have some consistency here. I believe we should use the full first and last name of the players who score goals. For one, in East Asia, it is common for players to have the same surname. Also, there is the order of names. I suppose that Arab nations use the same name order as the West. Here in East Asia, typically the surname comes first. Then there is Japan, who use surname first, but often change the order when it is used in English. Can we agree on a CONSISTENT policy? Ludahai 04:29, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am moving this discussion to Talk:2006 Asian Games, as this is not just for football, but for all sports. SportsAddicted | discuss 09:43, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Preliminary Round stats

edit

Aleenf1 - if you check on the results/schedule section on the website and go to the bottom where the preliminary rounds for football, basketball and Volleyball are to be found, click on football, then check on the results for individual matches. The goals, refs, etc. are all there. One more revert and I will report you for vandalism. Next time, if you have this kind of a problem, use talk pages (mine and this one) rather than deleting information posted by another user. Ludahai 05:55, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ludahai is right in this situation. I already added the goal scorers from the preliminaries in the goal scoring section. They were already there and can be found on the official website as well, so let them where they are now. SportsAddicted | discuss 09:34, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

First Round Teams

edit

I do not understand why there were only 8 teams in the first round but a lot more teams in the second round for the men competition. Should there be a competition format section which includes an explanation for this?

first round is preliminary round, anyway to understand you can write the competition summary. --Aleenf1 09:50, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
What's the tournament format, anyway? --Howard the Duck 14:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
