Neutrality disputed

The article only gives one version of the incident, and after an initial phrase "according to Wuterich" it goes on as if facts were presented. The version of those close to the victims is very different from this, and even US senators have described the incident as a massacre, based on official investigations. Please give equal weight to both sides. Furthermore, I see no information in the fact that family members have spoken out in his defense. They were not there. Socafan 22:55, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

I just added several lines about news reports refuting Wuterich's story, and am going to remove the NPOV tag. Please feel free to expand the section as much as possible. As for the family members, considering Wuterich has not spoken for himself, I don't see any reason not to include the info, so long as it doesn't come to dominate the whole article. Thank you. I still do not see why we need family members who were not there defending him in the article, but that is just my opinion. Socafan 07:41, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
I removed the disproportionate amount of information on Wuterich's view of events so that the article can be NPOV. I kept the reference to the washington post. Vorpal Bladesnicker-snack 07:01, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Frank's Character

I'm sorry if this is not the correct forum for these statements, but I think they need to be placed somewhere. As they have a bearing on Frank's character.

My name is Brian Rowe. I served with Staff Sergent Wuterich for four years. He is of fine moral character, and a stellar Marine. If this happened to him, then you can be sure that it could have happened to me, or to anyone. The fog of war is thick, please remember that. Briprowe 18:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

If it's so thick you cannot tell right from wrong anymore, you should get the hell out of there. Say thanks to all the fine politicians who indoctrinated you that the lives of human beings are attributed worth according to the color of their passport and their skin. If the "fog of war" is so thick you don't see anymore that "kill them all, let god sort them out" is a philosophy that could not possibly be more barbaric, you cease to fulfill a purpose other than serving as a bad example. --84.46.0.176 16:43, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
This article is obviously in need of more editing if it gave anyone the impression that Frank Wuterich has already been found guilty, and that words in his defense deserve that kind of a vicious response.

Damn you people are naive. He is a murder. Think of the Iraqi families being innocently killed. Also put yourself in the same position. Having a soldier come in and completely slaughter your entire family. Shoot first and ask questions later BULLsh!t. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.79.198.42 (talk) 14:58, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
In war a commander gives the order to kill enemy soldiers, and many times lots of civilians die. This time it appears that there was no command. If he had been given the command to shoot an invading group of soldiers, and he had refused, would it have been the same punishment? What if Americans had died?
Yeah, it could have happened to anyone, eh? He made the choice to join the military and the responsibility that comes with it. Or is supposed to.

I'm going to remove the biography section, or at least most of it, because it seems pretty irrelevant—A normal person suddenly becomes famous for fucking up.Editfromwithout (talk) 09:30, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Exact wording of Dela Cruz' statements

Apparently these are not to be taken too literally. I read several articles about the hearing and every one of them used different wording. This could be due to English not being Dela Cruz' native language, so these could be translations. Or they could be similar statements made at different times in the testimony. POV, image

  • POV tag added -- that is a no-brainer regardless of what anyone may personally think!!

That's still the wrong image for Frank Wuterich. Check out images.google.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.19.183.69 (talk) 01:48, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Wuterich = Wüterich

Maybe F.W. is of German descent. The Word Wüterich means berserk, madman in German. nomen est omen. --91.60.181.111 (talk) 09:54, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Yep, that's what I thought of, too. Other online translators render the German word Wüterich as brute (see here) or violent madman (see here). --Consputus (talk) 22:25, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Testimony by a Marine Cpl

A Marine Corporal who took part in the Haditha Massacre was quoted but not named in the Sunday Times (UK):

“While in the house which I identified as House No 2, I did identify some targets as children before I fired my weapon killing them. My reason for this is that House No 1 was declared hostile. While in House No 1 I was told that someone ran to House No 2 making it hostile... While in House No 2 Staff-Sergeant Wuterich fired shots into the room. This again made me think the house was hostile. I went to assist him and saw that children were in the room kneeling... My training told me that they were hostile due to Sgt Wuterich firing at them ... I am trained to shoot two shots to the chest and two shots to the head and I followed my training.”

Does anyone know who this Marine is? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.213.171.98 (talk) 08:05, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

The quote appears in a book review for "The Gamble: General Petraeus and the Untold Story of the American Surge in Iraq, 2006-2008" by Thomas E.Ricks, attributed to "a corporal" speaking to "an investigator."

Presumably the quote, and perhaps its source, appears in the book, which is widely available in public libraries, or you might write to Mr. Ricks at the Washington Post. Bustter (talk) 12:57, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Anonymous email hack

As per this Anonymous hacked into Wuterich's lawyers servers, taking nearly 3gb of email and duly dumping them online, and defacing their website. Tweet with more info here. This obviously should be included in the article in some form. Y u no be Russavia ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) 09:25, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
