Pictures
editHow about adding some pictures of the Frontier Corps in their distinct Black Uniform? A few pictures would be very nice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.255.144.219 (talk) 16:38, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Not all the FC units wear the ubiquitous black shalwar kameez, the Khyber Rifles wears blue, some wear khaki, each unit has different histories and were allowed the keep their traditional uniforms et al. The sole common denominator is this Eagle on a mountain FC patch.--Degen Earthfast (talk) 17:59, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Degan Earthfast: can you include those in the article?--39.48.180.226 (talk) 17:33, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

List of Wings
edit@Gedrose: Do we really need to put list of wings on this article. Those lists of wings is just makes the pages too long. Also per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, Wikipedia articles are not: Simple listings ..... Nor should listings such as the white or yellow pages be replicate. If we really need to put those information, MOS:USEPROSE suggest a list which may be better-written as prose. Ckfasdf (talk) 23:20, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Ckfasdf: Not permanently. White/yellow pages are telephone directories, but these are not directory listings. You’ll also see that these are not just simple listings per criterion 1 of WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Every single one I’ve listed has a reliable source confirming its existence and in some cases more. Initially I listed them here because most of the 40+ regiments didn’t have articles of their own. Have a look at other regimental articles and you’ll see many of them list sub-units down to platoon level in some cases. See the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) or Garhwal Rifles articles for example. The wings listed here are really battalions of around 800 personnel each and if there were enough references they’d be notable enough for articles of their own. Now there are enough sources to justify more regimental articles, I have started new articles about the regiments and listed their constituent wings there. See for example the new articles on the Bara Rifles, Dir Scouts, and Taftan Rifles. The only reason I’ve not removed those ones from here is because some of the references are "ref name" and apply to multiple wings. My plan is to eventually shift the wing lists to as many regimental articles as possible. Longer term I’m looking to separate this article into four shorter articles, each covering one Corps, with this article covering just the history up to 2017 (which is when they became four). - @Gedrose: White/yellow pages are the extreme example of such directories. refer to WP:LISTCRITERIA, Criteria for inclusion should factor in encyclopedic and topical relevance, not just verifiable existence, So reliable source is not the only inclusion criteria.
- But refer to the other example page that you mentioned, it seems 2-level unit below that military unit on the article title is still somewhat acceptable. However none of the list on either 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) or Garhwal Rifles are as long as list on this article (it took me 8 scroll down just to see all of those list, whereas it only took 1-2 scroll to see those examples). It would be better to make the list into 2 or more columns or maybe just put it on one line (for example: Bajaur Scout (171 Wing, 172....., 177 Wing). Ckfasdf (talk) 01:02, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- No longer necessary. I’ve separated off four daughter articles which list the constituent regiments. You can scroll down this article more quickly now. Gedrose (talk) 20:17, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- OK, it was called article splitting in Wikipedia. For your reference, you may want to read Wikipedia:Splitting and Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Ckfasdf (talk) 02:24, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
