Excess detail on the kits in the infobox

edit

Template:Football kit states "the template is for showing basic team colours. It is not supposed to be an accurate drawing of the kit." So, I have removed the version using the image here, etc. The adidas logo on these clutters up the image, and in addition may be a copyright infringement. Dancarney (talk) 11:46, 28 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please someone who has access, change the colours of 2nd kit (used between 1906-1908) from Yellow-Blue to Yellow-Black. As it says abowe of kit section Galatasaray wore yellow and black in that period.not blue.Thanks. --WikiBronze (talk) 17:58, 15 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Galatasaray S.K.

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Galatasaray S.K. (football team)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

"Important figures in the club's history"

edit

This section was tagged as containing original research in July 2009. Nothing had been done to address this, so yesterday I removed the section. An editor undid this edit without making any justification in the edit summary, and then removed the tag. This section remains completely unreferenced, and in its current state does not belong in the article. I believe that it should be removed, unless it can be shown otherwise, through using third-party reliable sources. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 08:46, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

A question...

edit

I'm trying to create an article about a Greek player who was born in Turkey and played,or at least he was part of Galatasaray's roster in 1970/71.His name was Avram Kalfin(Αβραάμ Καλφίν);Can anyone tell me if he played any league match with Galatasaray's colours? The name of the page

edit

Galatasaray SK (football team) instead of the name if the name of Galatasaray FC Would not it be more elegant? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.242.237.223 (talk) 19:05, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Do you relaize that the Club's name is Galatasaray SC, and it doesn't change accoridng to which branch of sports you are talking about. Galatasaray has dozens of teams/individual sportspeople in many sports. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.215.229.30 (talk) 18:57, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

football team

edit

Football team as we do not need another page let alone an amateur soccer team Galatasaray SK on the link to the branches already given as a table —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.108.71.162 (talk) 12:59, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

football team

edit

Are you a soccer team closes the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leonade16 (talkcontribs) 11:43, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

That is the clubs name (now A.ş. actually) it's NOT " oh we are talking about footbal team of Galatasaray, let's say FC..." That doesn't work like that stop that gibberish, A club is aptly titled as a whole, so there's no seperate Galatasaray FC, Galatasaray BC, Galatasaray VC etc...

The name of the page

edit

The name of the page galatasaray (football team) instead of FC Galatasaray is even more beautiful in this way does not look very nice —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.246.242.242 (talk) 18:53, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

The team is never called Galatasaray FC in English, so that would not be an appropriate title. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 22:45, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why not be appropriate. Galatasaray (football team) never afford a nice name does not name any of the team a badly written — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leonade16 (talkcontribs) 17:13, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid that I cannot understand the point that you are trying to make. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 17:45, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

galatasaray s.k. can separate page for the same football fenerbahçe sk page, as well as —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.108.79.132 (talk) 17:57, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

There are already separate pages for the football section and the multi-sports club. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 20:41, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

True, but do not want to tell you that no other team in such a scheme as a priority Galatasaray SK football page does not isolate the problem, I believe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.108.68.130 (talk) 14:06, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I still don't understand the point you are trying to make. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 14:41, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I do not know exactly in English so I can not explain what I mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.108.68.130 (talk) 15:16, 22 March 2011 (UTC) In addition to being football page of the necessary shape of such an order does not think any other club Galatasaray SK page has lost importance.Reply

Galatasaray SK (football team) do not need to page

edit

Football main page to page, such as the importance of Galatasaray SK lost their other branches should separate page, Would not it be a subject to redirect from there to open the mind of an amateur like Fenerbahce page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.242.252.218 (talk) 13:48, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Galatasaray A.Ş.

edit

The name of the page Galatasaray SK (football team) instead Galatasaray A.Ş. Would not it be more logical if the name is already in the UEFA goes this way —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.242.250.101 (talk) 06:59, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Galatasaray A.Ş.

Pronunciation

edit

As a fluent speaker of Turkish, I'm a little confused by the description of Galatasaray's native pronunciation. It is pronounced Gala-tasaray, with the pause in Turkish exactly where it is with a foreign pronunciation. The only difference is where English speakers would say "Galatasa" with the "a" sounding like an "a" as in "apple", you'd instead pronounce the "a"s as the "u" in "bus". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.112.67.151 (talk) 00:12, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Galatasaray S.K. (football)Galatasaray A.Ş. – Official name of the football club as recognised by the Turkish Football Federation and UEFA. FXT 04:03, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

  • Oppose - I have never heard of this club being referred to as 'Galatasaray A.Ş.'. A more sensible page move would be:
Galatasaray S.K. (football)Galatasaray S.K.
and
Galatasaray S.K.Galatasaray S.K. (sports club)

given the football department's clear primary fame. GiantSnowman 13:21, 16 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose - If I remember correctly "A.Ş." is the abbreviation appended to companies in Turkey. Clearly "S.K." is the more appropriate abbreviation if that is the case. I have no preference regarding GiantSnowman's suggestion above, but we definitely shouldn't be using "A.Ş." in my opinion. – PeeJay 19:12, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rivalry with Leeds United

edit

On the page for Leeds United it mentions the rivalry with Galatasaray and the history of both clubs, feels strange it is not on this page but in mentioned in source 52.

Is it fair to mention?

and also known as Galatasaray AŞ or Gala in UEFA competitions

edit

This is plain nonsense. Galatasaray A.Ş is the name of the listed company beloning to Galatasaray SK. It is listed this way in TFF and UEFA competitions. And there is no "Gala" anywhere officially. Someone added this. Beshogur (talk) 23:19, 14 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
