Untitled section

edit

The second sentence in the article is factually inaccurate. The GSOC staff is, by their own admission, 60% ex-Garda. This came out in questions put to the commission during hearings in the Dail by TD Luke Flannagan here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10go2Wbv7FY Renglish (talk) 10:34, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Because of the disproportionately large number of complaints from County Mayo (the highest per capita in the state), the Commission wrote to then Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform Brian Lenihan requesting a review of how the Shell to Sea protests were policed [1] [2]. The minister refused, but did not give a reason.

This section is being removed on the basis of COI but apparently there was no problem about it being in the article before and the editor removing it actually tidied it up and improved it .So why is it being removed now .Garda40 (talk) 13:23, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough, I'll revert back to the version I tidied to. Thanks! Fin© 13:26, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is it really necessary to continually delete the link to the Mayo News article? It goes into much more detail than the Independent article.

I can't see the harm in saying that Mayo has the highest per capita rate of complaints. Can anyone else?

Yes. See WP:COI and WP:UNDUE. Thanks! Fin© 15:48, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not very good reasons, 9x5, you're not exactly on the firmest of ground there. And I don't know why we're taking Lenihan's word that "it was not appropriate to proceed". That's just what he said; the GSOC certainly believed it was appropriate, and Haugh had sharp words for Lenihan on the subject during a a speech in WIT soon afterwards.

GSOC recommendation of disciplining senior Garda

edit

The GSOC have just claimed their first S2S scalp, and a superintendent, no less. Why no mention, or links to the Irish Times or RTÉ articles? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 00:04, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replied here, this person hasn't been named nor has any disciplinary procedure begun GainLine 11:43, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
What exactly is the logic of attempting to move this discussion to my talk page? Here's the link: [1]. Try to keep up, lads. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 18:52, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
to answer two questions at once GainLine 19:53, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've renamed this thread as the individual hasn't been named as the subject of the investigation. GainLine 13:13, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Here's a proposal that the more timid might regard as original research. The identity of the man who was superintendent of Belmullet district in June 2007 is public knowledge. As you've been told by another, you're allowed to think. Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 13:20, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article needs expansion

edit

As it stands this article has undue weighting on the complaints arising from the corrib gas protest. Over half the article relates to it. It needs expanding to remove this weighting. There are surely some more notable interventions and more info that can be added to this article. I'm going to try do some of this over the next few days but I havent a huge amount of time and other stuff on the go. GainLine 21:58, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've added details of the 2008 report. Cathar11 (talk) 22:00, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
So I see, good work. I'm gonna try add a bit to it too but I do have other stuff on the go so its not my highest priority GainLine 22:02, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Added 2007 report, Mission statement and more its starting to look like an article and not a stub.Cathar11 (talk) 11:17, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, took away the template GainLine 12:09, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
