editI'd really like to see some expansion of this page, perhaps with further studies and inquiries into this matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.127.51.196 (talk • contribs) 04:37, 2008 January 3 (UTC)
Dainichi Nyorai
editI'm not sure about including this passage: "In Japan, since one of the symbols of Dainichi Nyorai (one of the non-historical buddhas of Mahayana Buddhism) was the sun, many equated Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess, with a previous reincarnation (bodhisattva) of Dainichi Nyorai." Judging by the title, this article seems like it should be restricted to discussing one particular Buddha, i.e. the historical Shakyamuni Buddha.—Nat Krause(Talk!·What have I done?) 03:29, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
No neutral point of view
editThis paragraph seems to be out of context and to fail to provide a neutral point of view:
Actually Buddha is not Prophet of anyone and he is not God. "Buddha" meaning "awakened one" or "the enlightened one".
Can it be deleted? Soparamens (talk) 00:20, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
n the article it is mentioned as:
"However, while he was against the authority of the Vedas, he might not have been against the Vedas themselves. Buddhist scholar Rahula Vipola wrote that the Buddha was trying to shed light on the true meaning of the Vedas. Buddha is said to be a knower of the Veda (vedajña) or of the Vedanta (vedântajña) (Sa.myutta, i. 168) and (Sutta Nipâta, 463)."
however there is no credible source for the above stated. As a matter of fact even the name is mentioned incorrectly as Rahula Vipola instead of the scholar Walpola Sri Rahula. And the famous professor never commented as above. Therefore if the author fails to quote a credible source kindly remove this erroneous statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Searchnreach (talk • contribs) 12:56, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
