Propose renaming page as "George Alapatt"

edit

Since Mar is simply a title ("Bishop" or "Lord"), the naming of this page appears to be in violation of naming guidelines, specifically, of WP:Naming_conventions_(clergy)#Syriac_bishops, which states 'the title "Mar" is not used in the article name unless necessary for disambiguation.' I propose renaming (moving) the page to simply "George Alapatt". -- Presearch (talk) 07:06, 28 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Restoring to page name "George Alapatt"

edit

I have restored the page name to "George Alapatt" (per WP:BRD). It was recently moved on the grounds that "George Alapatt" is a common name, with the log referring to a discussion here: Talk:Mar_Thoma_I. However, that discussion pertained to bishops with names such as "Thomas I" or "Thomas II" which is indeed a common name. But a double name (both first and last) is not so common (as a few searches will show). Please also observe that many high officials in other traditions - for example, American Roman Catholic Cardinals, listed HERE, have Wikipedia pages without their title. I see no need for special exceptions to be given here to George Alapatt.

Please do not re-move the page without 1) discussion and 2) a consensus that there is a sound reason to re-insert "Mar" into the page title. Thank you. -- Presearch (talk) 00:11, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
