Deletion?

edit

The trailer has been shown in Japanese Cinemas and now it is on the official site as well as in depth stuff about the production staff visiting Norway for the setting basis and thus, it is in production. The film exists and as such should not be put up for deletion due to it not existing or being in production, because as such, it is in production. --SerebiiNet 15:04, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Information update?

edit

Uh...did anyone else see Serebii.net recently? It's been added that Giratina is in the movie and they have a poster for it already. --Sonicmaster1223 16:12, 07 December 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.252.28.210 (talk) Reply

Your point? The title has been changed on here, and the poster has been added. MelicansMatkin (talk) 21:16, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Translations in

edit

Why "the movie:" for "Gekijouban", curiously, on all the movie pages? - Sotomura (Tetsuya-san) (yell : see) 13:49, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's just kind of the same thing, I guess. "Gekijouban Pokemon" would have the same effect as "Pokemon the Movie."—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 16:38, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Title

edit

Why use the Japanese untranslated name? "Giratina to Sora no Hanataba" translates into "Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet", right?65.223.58.226 (talk) 22:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

There's no official translation as of yet is all. Once the English name is revealed it'll be moved to that.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 23:19, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually, try looking at Serebii.net. They are a very good source of Pokemon news.204.147.20.1 (talk) 22:22, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually, Serebii.net is inadmissible as a source. Please see WP:RS, WP:V, WP:FANSITE, and WP:PCP. MelicansMatkin (talk) 23:16, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Pokemon.com just confirmed "Giratina and the Sky Warrior" as the English title.Pikachugal (talk) 16:12, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

About the 氷 in the title

edit

Does anyone know why the pronunciation of Kanji 氷 is not included in the title? If the title is read out alout, the latter part of it will just mean Sky's bouquet, but I think there is significance of the Kanji氷(which means ice), as the background of the movie is based on Norwegian landscape. Is this a common case that the pronunciation of certain Kanji is omitted? Just out of curiosity :) Stevefis (talk) 06:42, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's just this weird motif with Pokémon movies. 遭遇 should be そうぐう and 蒼海 should be そうかい, but they're instead であい and うみ.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 06:50, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oncoming edit war

edit

A sense an oncoming edit war with the number of page moves from "Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi" to "Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Sheimi". I'd like to open a discussiopn to avoid this if at all possible. I personally feel that the Japanese name should stay until an English one is provided, especially since there are several different English translations of Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi. Thoughts? MelicansMatkin (talk) 05:12, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It should be Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin, since that is it's name in English, not Sheimi. Therequiembellishere (talk) 15:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
But at the moment there is no English name, and there won't be until Pokemon USA releases it next year. My point is that there are several different translations into English, and we should establish a consensus to see if we keep the Japanese name, "Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi" (which it has been since the article was created), or change to one of the many accepted translations (which has only begun in the last little while, including a move after I opened this discussion). The problem with the latter is deciding which translation to use. MelicansMatkin (talk) 16:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, it has an English name, it just hasn't been officially revealed yet. People have it by whatever means and this is its name. Therequiembellishere (talk) 16:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
So what, their is no title for the English version. The Official Translation of the Japanese text is Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Sheimi (ギラティナと氷空の花束シェイミ). We should not use the Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi title. (Taiketsu (talk) 17:24, 18 February 2008 (UTC))Reply
Thank you, I never suggested that in the slightest. The fact is Shaymin is the name of it in English. Sheimi is Japanese. And as I'll so eloquently put, we are not Japanese. Therefore, we should use English. Therequiembellishere (talk) 19:05, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Official, as in there's a source that says this, or official, as in some fan took the direct words of the Japanese title and translated it him or herself? Wikipedia doesn't accept titles that have been translated by fans; it's a textbook violation of WP:NOR. We stick to the Japanese until they have revealed it themselves, because things change. And why are we using both an English name (Giratina) and a Japanese name (Sheimi) anyway? hbdragon88 (talk) 02:28, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's called, "people have the pokemon and this is the name that appeared when they battled and caught it". Therequiembellishere (talk) 03:52, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
This isn't the release of Diamond and Pearl, and in any case, when the names were leaked in advance of the game's release, A Man In Black (talk · contribs) rapidly move page protected all of them until the day of the game's release when the names were official. I think the same should happen here – Japanese until the English is revealed, aka when the movie is released. hbdragon88 (talk) 04:27, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Heads-up, hbdragon--it's called Giratina in both English and Japanese.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 04:48, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Bah, are you kidding? *checks PsyPokes* So that's...Pikachu, Raichu, and Giratina that are the same? hbdragon88 (talk) 06:22, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Haha, most legendaries' names either stayed the same or are just spelled differently.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 12:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Let me be clear; I am not referring to the translation of "Sheimi" to "Shaymin" in the title. I am talking about the title being changed from Giratina to Sora no Hanataba to Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet. There has not been an official English translation yet released of Giratina to Sora no Hanataba, and as mentioned above, stating that a fan's unofficial translation of the title is the actual name of the movie is pure WP:OR. I am of the firm opinion that the title of this article should return to Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi, the actual title of the movie. MelicansMatkin (talk) 14:13, 20 February 2008 (UTC) Due to move page warring I have protected page moves indefinitely. Taiketsu doesn't seem to want to argue in a civil manner on the talk page why he thinks the English title should be used except in snarky edit summaries. hbdragon88 (talk) 08:08, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Clean-up

edit

I've done some minor clean-up to the page; it's nothing too major, just stringing all of the information into more coherant sentences, breaking the article down into sections, removing trivia/speculation, requesting citations where I feel they are needed, and extending the lead to three paragraphs as per WP:LEAD (it sounds like more work than it actually was). I think the article looks a bit better now, and hopefully the new sections will help when more information becomes available as the film's release approaches. Shaymin

edit

According to this CoroCoro page scanned by Filb.de, Shaymin's trademarked Japanese name is Shaymin. Can someone move the page into Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Shaymin? - Taylor28 (talk) 22:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is locked and cannot be moved.. only this talk page can be. --staka (TC) 03:08, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
The reason why Sheimi has been kept in the title is because it is the Japanese title. In the WikiProject, we have a policy of using the Pokemon's Japanese names in the Japanese titles. MelicansMatkin (talk) 04:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Matkins, the point of this topic is the fact that "Shaymin" was, just now, confirmed to be the Japanese name. So we want to move it to the proper title.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 04:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Woops, my mistake in misunderstanding the comment. A page move can be made by contacting a sysop. And I realize that I will probably sound like a fool for mentioning this but, given the timing, can we really be sure that the actual Japanese name is Shaymin and that this isn't an April Fools prank by Filb.de? People have edited/fabricated magazine scans before for this occassion. MelicansMatkin (talk) 06:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's a pretty weak prank.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 12:37, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, but similar things have happened before. MelicansMatkin (talk) 14:22, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Want proof for a trailer statement

edit

"One of Giratina's dimensions is shown in a trailer as a foggy place with floating islands, covered with a strange green thing like moss or grass. A middle island is covered in moss/grass, and in the middle is a ritual pallete, with six symbols. The six symbols are: Dialga, Palkia, Shaymin, Regigigas, Giratina and Heatran. In the middle is a Giratina in Origin Forme."

I find this apparent scene to be very interesting and intriguing. However, i have checked every trailer on both the official website and on youtube, and i can't seem to find this info at all. Heck, this supposed scene isn't even described anywhere else, and the people at bulbapedia are doubting its existence. Can somebody please provide some proof that this scene exists. Preferably a screenshot or something. The Great Morgil (talk) 18:50, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Atleast I can't find anything on the Internet with mentions "The Fire Returns of Heatran" as the next Pokémon-movie. Except for one, which have this page as it's source. A source would be good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.228.241.157 (talk) 19:03, 26 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Summary

edit

Just curious here, who wrote the summary? I have found that it perfectly matches that on Serebii.net, which, despite its reliability, is still a fansite. Unless the person who wrote it was the same person who wrote Serebii's, you should be able to paraphrase theirs into your own.

P.S. I thought Serebii was unable to be copy-and-pasted. 71.63.183.139 (talk) 14:09, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
