NH-8 100% complete!!!

edit

How can NH-8 be "100% complete" when there are still huge chunks of elevated expressway missing in the section between Delhi and Gurgaon? Jpatokal 17:14, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

4 laning of NH-8 as per original plan is complete. 8 laning of Delhi-Gurgoan section is a separate project. Vjdchauhan 07:29, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
I beleive the expressway and national highway are on different alignments, not too sure -- PlaneMad|YakYak 12:28, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, it's exactly the same route. Jpatokal 06:33, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes its exactly the same route but that section (Delhi-Gurgoan) was already 4 laned (2x2) (GQ Project envisaged only 4 laning of metro connecting roads) and the current ongoing work is making it 8 laned (4x4). Vjdchauhan 13:20, 13 November 2006 (UTC).

GQ alignments

edit

At present the article states that the gq is through nh 2,4,5,8. Although major stretches are on these highways, there are lots od diversions through other highways as well. You can take a look at the map for more info. I say we have a chained list of the gq sections starting at delhi and going clockwise and the particular nh in brackets -- PlaneMad|YakYak 13:34, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Better infobox

edit

I noticed that this article is not using any of the four India-specific highway infoboxes. I've made a demo of how this infobox could look if it were switched to {{infobox road}}. The links at the bottom can be updated to include other links as needed. Imzadi 1979  10:37, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dubious statement removed from article

edit

I've removed the following statement from the article after fact checking it:

As of 2008, while the Golden Quadrilateral makes up under 2 percent of India's road network, it carries about 40% of the country's traffic and accounts for one-third of its traffic deaths.[1]

The statement is backed up by the source cited. However, all of the figures above look implausibly high for this one road, and checking the statistics at http://www.nhai.org/roadnetwork.htm, it appears that the source has incorrectly used the statistics for national highways as a whole (about 70,000km, about 2% of the total road network according to that source), and applied them to the GQ - a small proportion of the total network. Fastest Team to Circumnavigate the Golden Quadrilateral

edit

The fastest team (MJV Bhaskar & AVR Prabhakar Rao) to circumnavigate the entire Golden Quadrilateral in India, did so between 5th to 8th May 2012, in Fiat Grande Punto 90HP. The team covered a distance of 5968 km in 79 hours and 28 minutes. They've officially entered into India book of records - http://www.indiabookofrecords.in/featured/fastest-expedition-of-a-golden-quadrilateral Certificate of GQ Record Drive from MMI

Fastest Team to Circumnavigate the Golden Quadrilateral Dispute

edit

Golden Quadrilateral is a National Highway in India and no where in India is a written rule that such speed records can be done on a carriageway. There are people who have done it earlier and people are still doing it, seeing this article on the wiki according to us will create scope for more such records which might be a cause for loss of limb / loss. Will leave upon the jurisdiction of the contributors of this page to decide whether this article snippet needs to be in or out. We are logging out of this article forever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truthprevails.avr (talkcontribs) 04:24, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is a record Updated & Approved by India Book of Records as per the link provided. Please mention who are the "US" & "WE" in this particular case. There was a record done in 2009 which got acknowledged by both the Record books. The Info on that record was there in the Wiki from 10th December 2011. No one contested this till now. This is a new record. This was updated on 4th september by another user. This was updated by me on my Facebook on the 16th October - After one and half month. After that you seemed to have checked it & started to edit it. More over you edited this record & posted on 16th October 2012 mentioning about media coverage & some user community. Please provide the links about the same. If You are part of the record making team please mention your details & your objection on the record. After this edit You undid many edits & your concerns were about the other team member not being in lime light. That is with in the team & unless You are a Part of the team you can't question about the roles of the members in the team.

Finally Wiki is an information portal which gives info on literally every thing in the universe. The Paragraph is the info about the record which was made. So technically it is bound to be on the page. Please mention your objections about the Info.

Most importantly if your concerns are genuine why are using my name for the edits & not your own name? Any particular reason of Hiding your identity?

Fastest Team to Circumnavigate the Golden Quadrilateral

edit

(moved from User talk:Jpatokal)

Not sure why the person wants to delete or Edit it continuously. To Top it he uses my Initials "AVR". I'm the Record Holder Prabhakar AVR who made the record in my car. Took a friend along with me for this Record. After this made one more record Kashmir to Kanyakumari also. The Record was initially uploaded by another person after the Confirmation from India Book of Records. Please Advise how I can stop him in doing this repeatedly.

We have nothing against your records / contests. It's just that you need to be open/clear/honest and give people their due credit. Why does it pain you if the names are in alphabetical order and give proper coverage to all the people you have taken help from instead of harping that it's because of you the runs were successful. We are going to stop this here but will take it elsewhere until you acknowledge the underlying efforts of everyone involved. If you continue to stake claim to the sole responsibility, back bite people behind their backs, give press statements without giving credit to people, we will have to contest on the veracity of the record itself and the rules shall be questioned with the relevant authorities.

So Now You are contradicting your own statements. You posted that you don't have any problem with my record if I give credits to some one. Whom do you want me to give credit? Please mention the names of people & their roles in the Record.

Next sentence says that posting records is dangerous to people. So if I give credits to people whom you mention then it is ok to Publish this every where. No Point in threatening me to make things in your way.

You are already saying many people tried & are trying now. Please provide the links & references of the same.

Questioning the Authorities & the record is your choice.

Please Reveal your identity if you really want to ease of this problem. Finally - If you are a part of the Team You'll get your due credit, else any amount of threatening or disruptive activities in any forums/user communities will not give you any credit.

Please understand if the dispute is about credits then editing the page does not serve your purpose. ProBiker007 (talk) 08:52, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Since you two seem incapable of holding a civl discussion, much less agreeing on anything, I've removed your names from the article and left only the link to the record. Hope you're both happy now? Jpatokal (talk) 22:45, 23 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
