Nice article but...
editCould the posting of Steege and the air operations of 77 Sqn and Mig Alley be clarified? This article says Steege removed them from fighter Ops as one of his first actions as C/O after posting on 16th August but the Meteor article puts them in action at the start of December. This implies either that he didn't arrive until much later than the posting date or that he'd actually been in the post longer and "first action" seems inappropriate wording. I appreciate that it could be he requested a change of ops and it took a month or two to work out but that's not how the article reads to me. GraemeLeggett (talk) 08:04, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hi mate. I can't speak for the accuracy of the Meteor article, and note that chunks of the Korean War section there are uncited. My main source says that Steege acted "immediately" to change the squadron's role after two encounters with MiGs in August (the same month he posted in). The article as we have it says they continued in escort duty and air defence, but that Steege acted to remove them from air-to-air combat; perhaps it'd work for you if I modified "air-to-air combat" to "air superiority" to make the change clearer? Query
edit"...undertaking reconnaissance, spotting for artillery, and practicing ground-attack missions.[7] He was promoted to flying officer in December 1938." Where was Australia engaged in military events in 1938??
Four tildes, right? 220.237.247.107 (talk) 08:20, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think it implies that Australia was engaged in military events (by which I assume you mean war) in 1938. The complete sentence you quote from talks of "exercises", not "operations". Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 08:32, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
